They have good food and excellent clam chowder. I lived in Boston for 13 years and this is really good chowder. HOWEVER, do not order the bowl.....it is a ripoff. It is twice the price of what they serve as a cup of chowder and it is exactly the same size. The worst part is that they are aware of this!! Free cake is nice. Service always has been poor.

We were not greeted when we walked into the restaurant and we stood for a while as people talked on the phone and figure it out something that didn't seem particularly important but it must have been. It wasn't that the restaurant was particularly crowded on this Friday evening. We were then seated and sat for another while, before being greeted by a very friendly server. If it weren't for her demeanor we probably would have left the restaurant at this point. But keep reading. The food was outstanding. They have a prime rib special on Friday nights, with excellent mashed potatoes as recommended by our server, and fresh seasonal vegetables, which were excellent. My dining partner had the clam chowder which she said was outstanding, along with the salad which she said was, 'a salad.' Oh, and they also serve warm bread with butter. We were too full to have dessert but as you walk into this restaurant they have a case filled with mile-high cakes. Apparently they are known for their cakes and desserts, though we'll have to go another time to find out if that's true.

I travel a lot for work thus eating at a lot of big chain restaurants. This was by far the best dining experience I have had in a long time. The food was cooked to perfection and the taste was fantastic. The entire staff could not have been nicer or any more attentive. And then after all that there was the CAKE! I can't begin to describe the cake selection but you better leave some room for the CAKE!

The food here is great but the service has been slipping for years. Tonight my friend and I walked in and were seated. Sat there for ten minutes being ignored by every server we saw. No "someone will be right with you" or anything. Another group were seated after us and were greeted with a friendly smile and were takencare of quickly. All the patrons were white at that table. I was with my good friend who happens to be African America. I've noticed this difference before as I patronize this restaurant frequently with both white and black friends. Hopefully this is coincidence but I tend to doubt it. I don't feel comfortable coming back to this place.

Onion rings were cooked in same vat as fish. I didn't order fish. Standard restaurant practice has a vat dedicated to fish only due to flavor and seafood allergies. Employees did not make eye contact and didn't connect at all. Burgers were meh. I am very disappointed. WHY THIS MATTERS: We were at a difficult medical appointment and needed comfort. Nantucket used to be great and employees really cared. I won't be back.
