Story

The New Strand Theater is a locally owned historic theatre in downtown West Liberty, Iowa. Our focus is as a family destination. We keep our ticket prices low and our snacks reasonably priced as well.

Impressum

Monday-Friday doors open at 7pm. Show starts at 7:30 pm.

Saturday and Sunday we run a matinee that begins anywhere from 4-5pm depending on the length of the show, and then a feature showing at 7:30 pm.

Tickets are first come, first serve. The theatre seats 150 currently.

Best place for family movie watching.  The ticket price and concessions are easy on the wallet, it's clean, plenty of leg room, and you don't leave with your ears ringing from excessive volume.  The beautiful, old architecture, chandeliers, and whimsical lobby really complete the movie experience!

While sometimes it's annoying that they don't play "the big movie" on opening night (understandable for a small town), it a great little place with nice service, delicious smelling and tasting popcorn (with free refills!), great prices, and an overall family-friendly environment. Also, the seats are far more comfortable there than at Coral Ridge, which gets really hot. If there's a movie you want to see that's playing here, I highly recommend coming here. Another fun thing is: while you're waiting for the movie to start, they play classic cartoon music in the background like Spider-Man, Looney Tunes, Pink Panther, etc.
