Where do I start? SOME, not all, of the folks that work at NCDPI that answer the phones need to be in the back somewhere. They have no business providing information to the public. They are rude, always sounding like it’s a bother to answer questions. Isn’t that your job though? Are you not getting paid to answer the questions asked? One female I spoke with recently barely gave me time to say “Thank You” as she hung up the phone. Like what is your problem? Do you hate your job or come to work upset and stay upset? These people need to be evaluated by the public the same way teachers and schools are evaluated by those forms sent home with students. I believe in doing my job to the best of my ability. It doesn’t matter if I’m having a bad day, the people I interact with as part of my job don’t need to know that. I don’t need to be rude to them either because that’s not my job. Providing EXCEPTIONAL service is what I am hired to do. Please take notes.

I called the DPI because I had learned that my child's IEP was not being implemented. I was told that the organization would be IMPARTIAL and help to resolve the issue with the school. I spoke with Mr. Bill Elvey, who seemed disinterested and greatly minimized the situation. Keep in mind the school has broken the IDEA law. As I was speaking with him I had the distinct feeling that I was talking to the school themselves who desired to control and downplay the situation. That turned out to be completely true! Mr. Elvey tipped off the Exceptional Children's Department of WCPSS and gave them my contact information without my knowledge or permission. Don't be fooled, DPI is the school system's right hand!!!
