North Fort Myers Park and Recreation Center
Located behind the N.F.M. Library off of N. Tamiami Trail (old 41), the park offers lots of activities and recreation for all ages. There are four baseball fields, two footballs and a practice field, along with a recreation building for afterschool recreation and other classes and programs (summer camp included). Pop Warner is also part of this facility. Twenty four shuffleboard courts, playground and pavilion are available to the public. Disc golf is growing in popularity and the course is presently under expansion and renovation.
The recreation center started in 1997 in the boardroom of the little league building. Shortly after the portable was established on the south side of the shuffleboard courts. In December of 2002, a new building opened offering more programs and space for the already successful after school program. Construction of a new 33,000-square-foot Recreation Center has been completed and opened October 25, 2013. The new Center features a fully equiped gymnasium with basketball courts and volleyball courts, a fitness center with locker room facilities,a game room and several large multi-purpose rooms for meetings and classes.
