Story

One of Minnesota's newest hospitals (the new hospital campus opened in 2003), Northfield Hospital combines advanced technology with personalized, patient-centered care. Our regional clinics include FamilyHealth Medical Clinic, offering primary and specialty care in Northfield, Lonsdale, Farmington and Lakeville. Clinics located in Northfield include Women's Health Center; Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic; and Northfield Eye Physicians & Surgeons.

Other services include Center for Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation in Northfield and Lakeville; Children's Therapy & Speech; and the Long Term Care Center.

The Northfield Women's hospital was excellent. Very accommodating while I was in college and worked with me being out of state a lot. To this day I remember my ob/gyn as the best I've had. Nice, quiet, and clean building and waiting rooms, plenty of parking, and friendly staff. I can only speak about the women's hospital but I never had a bad experience there.

Horrible experience. Just over a year ago my husband went to the Northfield Urgent Care in Lakeville. We were sure he had the stomach flu, everyone else in the house had had it the week before. But he needed a note from a doctor for work. He went in and the doctor told him that he was probably having an appendicitis and sent him to this hospital. They did several different tests and prepped him for surgery - including premed. They gave him hydromorphone and then stopped everything - said oh you re not having an appendicitis you probably have the stomach flu - and sent him home. They let a patient leave after giving hydromorphone without someone to drive him home! I can't believe it. And then the almost $9,000 bill came!!! Insurance covered half and we paid another $700 our selves. The hospital was very unwilling to work with us on a payment plan. I finally called to apply for financial assistance which I was told on the ohone I would not qualify for. I said send the papers anyways and guess what we did qualify - for $900 to be taken off. We sent up a psyment plan then and made 2 payments before being advised by an attorney to stop. At the attorney's direction we submitted all of the information and what happened to the insurance company and now they are investigating because the hospital ran so many unnecessary tests and prripped for surgery when there was no reason to believe he had an appendicitis in the first place. This hospital completely took advantage of my husband who was scared and trusted that they were doing all the right things for him. I don't even care if we get our $1000 back - I just want them to leave us alone.

Had surgery and my baby boy at the hospital, no complaints. Excellent service, staff, and food!

I was there for a toe operation, on August 21.  One day in and out I was told.  After the surgery the pain med were not working.  The nurse kept asking me in a accusing tone, are you sure you don't take narcotics at home?  Insult!  It was around 7 pm, I asked to asked my doctor if I could stay overnight.  The nurse came back told me he said no.  Later b when I spoke to the doctor he said yes!  Around 9 still in severe pain no medicine working.  I told the nurse I Was staying.  My daughter had gone home and due to the storm we had no electricity.   So then the nurse sent in a house supervisor.  She said it would be fraud to keep me, and my personal problems weren't there problem.  So I had to go home!!
