I just returned from having ambulatory surgery at Winthrop. From the moment I was admitted to the moment I went home, I have never experienced such a wonderful team of healthcare professionals, especially the nurses and assistants. They were kind, caring compassionate and efficient. I could not have had better care. I can not adequately express my sincere thanks for their hard work and dedication. You were all absolutely wonderful.

I had brought my mom into the emergency on August 19,2017 when we were in the emergency room #15 the nurses and doctor on duty were exceptionally polite, considerate and beyond with patience. I would like to recommend nurses Michelle McCann, and Maxine King and Dr. Johnstone. Please let them be acknowledge of their outstanding job well done. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Please have a copy of this in their files.

Terrible experience. The doctor was very disrespectful and unprofessional. Took my mother because of severe abdominal pain that she been having for 2 weeks and nothing was helping her. She felt very dizzy, lightheadness, nausea and was having back pain as well. They refused to give her a bed to lay on because they claim that the beds are only for cardiac patients only. Which blew me away because the patient next to my mom was laying on a bed for motion sickness. Another patient was on a bed dont know for what reason however there was 3 other empty beds. They had my mom on a bed for a split second and told her to get up and sit down on the chair that was sitting on before. Also, because it is the first time that I've been to a hospital and refuse to give a bed to a patient because its only for cardiac patients? That's ridiculous. When we informed them that we are leaving the doctor was like "you will have to pay out of pocket because the insurance will not pay" yet as a patient we do have a right to refuse when we are not recieving proper treatment. I feel like my mother was being discrimated because she does not speak English and is Latina. But my mom works very hard and has a union job so yes she does have excellent health insurance. I hate to say it because i am not that type but anything is possible nowadays. Never ever going to this hospital for any reason.

I am writing a cafeteria review. I really like this hospital cafeteria. I'm a medical student at a top 5 ranked institution/research hospital and, man, to get anything healthy around there -- you are probably looking at $10 for a salad and $3 for a slice of cake. I have literally never bought an entree plate because the food is lousy and overpriced. At Winthrop University Hospital, you're looking at entree plates for ~$5. Furthermore, the hospital actually lets medical students eat a $5 meal every day for free. When you're paying like $45k in tuition every year and you spend 12h+ every day and sometimes weekends at the hospital, it's nice to know that they care about the effort you are putting in toward learning about and improving patient care. Also, they have Flavia coffee/espresso machines which are way freakin' better than the watery, tasteless Keurig machine coffee. If you bring your own milk foam/cappuccino packet, you can really elevate your coffee drinking experience. Can't say much about the medical care or facilities here because I've never actually been a patient.

Pediatric ER and Floor is unbelievable. I have spent a lot of time there the nurse, child life and doctors are the best! Grateful for my pediatric gastro Marciano I would never go anywhere. People complain there is a long wait for the waiting room which sometimes there is but thats because there are other sick people and if they are sicker than you, you wait longer! Ill wait here any day knowing when its my turn I get the best care around.
