A new place for us to eat. We visit Big Bear often and when we eat out we frequent the same few restaurants we know and love. 1 day after skiing and snowboarding and with a larger group we could not get into any of our regulars. A hostess of one recommended Oakside. They were able to seat us upstairs in the bar. The food was good and we will be back. The service was okay, but we were there during a very busy time and our group was large so the kitchen probably made other small parties food in between ours as our food came out randomly. I will not hold that against them on a 1 time visit. If I were the manager I'd have instructed the kitchen to do the same. The waitress was good/friendly our drinks were never empty and we all had a good time. We had kids in our group ages 10 to 16 some are picky eaters and everyone left full.

This place is a cut above most anywhere else in Big Bear. When we first arrived one of the hostesses opened the door for us and proceeded to seat us right away. Granted, it wasn't busy, but she went out of her way to make us feel welcome. Waiter was on top of our table the whole time, we never had to flag him down. And most importantly, the food. We started out with fried calamari and a lobster pizza, both of which were amazing. Hamburgers are a great size, fish and chips looked amazing, and my ahi steak was cooked and flavored perfectly. Honestly my new favorite restaurant in town! However, the restaurant itself is fairly small, so the closer to opening time you get there the better, and if you're trying to get in here on a holiday weekend with no wait (looking at you negative reviewers) it's just not going to happen. Sorry!

Party of 6. Waitress was Lauren. Although our reservations were for a very busy time, she made certain everyone was taken care of. She checked on us several times, and somehow made sure each of our special orders was perfect. We saw her moving around this crowded place, attending to each of her tables. She seemed to appear just as a plate needed removing, or a glass refilled. High class restaurant...if you decide to go, we recommend requesting this lovely waitress.

The Oakside Restaurant is one of the newest establishments in Big Bear. It has a very upscale feel with a layout that tailors to all. For a formal sit down to the upstairs sports bar to the third story VIP area you can reserve for private party's. Outside there is an amazing fireplace with bar stools to lounge and people watch. The food was amazing and our waitress Laura did a great job. They offer military discount as well. Thank you for your support!

What should of been a five star. Our last day in Big Bear we went back and we were refused service again the place was empty compared to our first attempt and it was only 8 of us. I accepted it but I asked a friend if she had ever been there. It turns out she was also refused service and I feel it's because we are Hispanic. I can’t believe that this place has good reviews.
