I just took my wife out of Oceans this morning and wanted to say a few things about her 8 day stay there. The first 2 days were difficult. She begged me to take her out and I was sorely tempted. Upon advice from family and friends I decided to leave her in a few more days to stabilize her medications...and am so glad I did!!! The horror stories she had been telling me about the staff and conditions in the hospital she admitted were delusions...Nobody wants to be in the hospital and she was no exception but, she feels and acts much better than when she was admitted...I just needed to learn to be a little more patient...While she still has a long road ahead of her...she now has some hope...Thanks to the staff and Doctors...

If I could have not chosen a star I wouldn't have. They don't deserve it. My mother spent 2 1/2 weeks there and it was like pulling teeth to get anyone to call me back. The Dr there, Dr Kiam is useless. I called everyday to talk to him about my mothers care and he called me back. And when I went to visit her she was in a wheelchair. Too weak to walk they said. Tho she walked in there. She also developed a bed sore and she also came out with a very bad cough and rattling in her chest. These things tell me she stayed in bed the whole time. She will not return to this facility again.

I call inquiring about a psychiatrist and the answering lady just yelled " UMMMM WERE ARE A HOSPITAL" as if I was challenged and couldn't understand English. Thanks lady. Made my day a little bit better - sarcasm.

Very nice people to interact with but has several down sides (areas for improvement): Cons - they released her very suddenly still symptomatic (manic and psychotic) and thankfully we were able to get her into a different psych hospital that didn't release her until she was well and without symptoms, not good at keeping you up to date with info on your family member, telling you your insurance will be accepted when it is not, and getting ahold of the people higher up or the decision makers without having to make many many calls. Pros: nice place from outside (although you are not allowed to see where the patients live and their surroundings and you have to visit (only allowed twice per week during one's work hours) in the front reception area, doctors are nice and communicative (although the internal medicine doc only available on iPad Thru telemedicine) and my mom said she was well taken care of. Pros and cons.

This place is terrible. The doctors are impossible to get hold of. They are only there part time and their hours seem very inconsistent. If you leave word daily that you want to talk to a doctor, they might get back to you in a few days (or not at all). They misdiagnosed my mother in law and somehow missed that she was schizophrenic (I guess the delusions didn't tip them off). The doctor (Wawa? Woowoo? we never really got his name) told us that a few days before he was ready to release her, they'd be in touch to work out care after her release. Instead, we got a call at 4pm to pick her up the next day. When we picked her up (she was still very symptomatic and we tried to tell them she wasn't in any condition to leave), we were told to bring her to an outpatient program with no further instructions. Well, that didn't work out, my mother in law was kicked out of the outpatient program after a few days because she was not participating and wandered off for a pedicure in the middle of the day. So, she was not well enough to participate in an outpatient program, but was released anyway. We heard stories from other visitors of no communication from doctors, patients not getting the clothing they were left, altercations between patients, patients being bruised by orderlies, and other stories of generally bad care. Bottom line: If you care about someone, don't bring them here.
