As a business owner myself, I see a deep-seated leadership problem at our local Office Depot. It's management is trying to save money by chronically under-staffing the store. The print shop and check out staff are trying to be helpful and are competent, but the impatient customers and their unrealistic workload has them stressed out. Although they try to be courteous to customers, it comes across as strained and insincere. They are more openly grumpy with each other, but I don't blame them for the toxic culture. It's a leadership issue. All of this translates into long wait times for customers, and I've met my breaking point in which I'll now drive to Orange City's Staples instead for office supplies and bring copy/print jobs to great local businesses Express Printing and Quality Quickprint who do great work with truly friendly service. Oh for the days when Office Depot had some local competition to keep quality up for customers. (Nen at Office Max's print shop was a consummate professional, making every customer feel cared for while doing an impeccable technical job with their print jobs.) So sadly, Office Depot's efforts to increase their profit margin is backfiring as they lose regular customers like myself. I wouldn't be surprised if this location closes. Or perhaps they'll listen to honest feedback like this and make the appropriate changes?

I have gone to Office depots in the past but when I came to my local deland store I was not greeted when I originally it took up to 20 min. before I was even acknowledged. This store has officially let me down. I asked the associate Janine who was in tech about an item to see if it was something they carried and they told me without even checking “no” didn’t put forth any effort to even try and look. And then I was not satisfied with that answer so I decided to ask another employee his name was Santiago and he was the cashier and he knew where it was and said that they did and pointed me to right where it was. As I’m walking back to grab the one item I came in for that has now taken me 30 min to get I see the manager I come to find out Janine still sitting at the technology area talking and laughing with other employees. On another occasion I have come in needing a few things and the manager Janine again, asked me if I needed any help finding anything and I did and I told her what I needed and she while doing nothing but standing there on her phone and told me once she listens to what I needed help with that another associate that was already with a customer at the time would help me and sent me back to wait on them instead of her just helping me. It is never an in and out experience I have come to realize that this store has a real big problem with its management and really needs a reality check on what proper customer service is.
