Old Saybrook is a regional rail station located in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. It is served by both Amtrak Northeast Regional intercity trains and Shore Line East commuter service.ServiceLocated on the Northeast Corridor, the busiest passenger railway in the United States, Old Saybrook station serves some of the rail services that pass through the station. Most trains on Amtrak's Northeast Regional train line stop at Old Saybrook. No high-speed Acela Express trains serve the station but some stop at the following southbound and northbound stations, New Haven and New London, respectively. However, all Shore Line East commuter rail trains stop at Old Saybrook; it serves as the eastern terminus for some trains. (New London is the eastern terminus of the line, with approximately half terminating there.)Old Saybrook features a common track setup, with one island platform and one side platform. This is a great Shore Line East and Amtrak Northeast Regional train station, While waiting for your train you can pitch up a camera, watch other trains go by, or get some work done on your tablet or laptop in the ticket office. If you are getting off and you are hungry, this station has some close areas to dine, Like Pizza Works where it is a 1 to 2 minute walk from Track 1 (across the bridge) and a 30 second walk on Track 2, (the parking lot side). Just remember one thing, if you are parking your car there, make sure you are in the correct parking area as it can get a bit confusing. For those rail fans out there that want to get close to an Acela Express coming through at 110 MPH, Feel free, just don't try touching it.

Great place to catch the Northeast Regional or Shore Line East. Just make sure to stand back when an Acela is passing through because the posted placard is outdated and lies. The Acela’s come through at 110mph and not 90

A nice clean station with elevators that bring you up to the pedestrian bridge. Amtrak stops there which is good for trips to Boston and New York. Also the fact that it's next to a pizza place is a plus for when you get off the train and you need to grab a bite to eat.

I have no idea why but apparently this parking lot is the most prejudiced place on America. I found this out when i parked here on a Sunday morning. I was parked correctly and legally in a space on the far end of the parking lot and was dressed nicely using my phone next to my car I was however barefoot and have long hair which apparently caused some people so much anxiety that they chose to engage in a favorite old saybrook pastime calling the police to harass young people. This happened twice in the span of an hour. I don't even know who was doing this because i didnt see anyone else the parking lot. I believe the only way to desensitize these people is to get a legion of brave multicultural men and women to park here repeatedly round the clock until this culture changes. That way our children won't have to live in a world were this eventually falls on them. Or just don't park here.
