Oyunaa's Mongolian Cuisine

Story

Oyunaa was born and raised in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. She was always the cook of her family. When she moved to Santa Cruz in 2005, she introduced traditional Mongolian food to many of the people she met. Without fail, those who were lucky enough to try Oyunaa's REAL Mongolian fare always came back wanting more.

Succulent steamed meat dumplings the Mongols call Buuz (pronounced Boodz), fried dumplings called Khuushuur (pronounced Ho Sure) and dumplings in soup they call Bansh. All served with a variety of Eurasian salads. Add in a few Russian dishes and you get an idea of what to expect at Oyunaa's.

We welcome you to Oyunaa's Mongolian Cuisine to experience the flavors from the land of Chinggis Khaan!

This is my first time trying Mongolian cuisine and it is delicious! The mushroom sauce adds a really nice, savory kick to really well seasoned meats in their dumplings. I encourage you to try it!

I loved everything about this place. The ambiance, the service, and above all the food! The menu is small, but I would much rather have a small offering of perfect foods, than a long list of mediocre offerings. Their dumplings are the most delicate and delicious things I have tasted in ages. Savory and light with a creamy dill dipping sauce. The mushroom dipping sauce (I took a bottle home it was so good!) is earthy and tangy and the perfect complement to any meat or vegetable dish. We have tried both the Lamb and the Chicken main courses and both were succulent and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend Oyunaa's!

This was a fun cultural experience. I had no idea what I was ordering but was fine taking a leap of faith based on the servers recommendations. My kids and my 82 year old MIL enjoyed it as well. We were on our way to the Crepe Place but stopped here on a whim as we were driving past. I am glad we did.

Delicious dumplings. My husband and I shared two entrees and an appetizer and we were stuffed! Plates didn't seem small for us.
