Story

Palisade State Park is a state park of Utah, USA, located just outside the small town of Sterling. The park offers tent, RV, and cabin camping, along with fishing, swimming, non-motorized (and electric motor) boating, golfing, and hiking. Off highway vehicle trails are also accessible from the park.HistoryIn the 1860s, Daniel B. Funk, an early settler of the surrounding Sanpete Valley, had the idea of a summer and weekend resort area. At that time, the valley was owned by a small group of Sanpitch Indians led by Chief Arapeen. Daniel B. Funk bargained with the chief and obtained a land patent from the government. He and his family then set about the arduous task of building a dam and diverting part of Sixmile Creek to fill the lake. The lake quickly became a well-known pleasure resort, now called Palisade.

Nice state park with a lot of pretty flying corgis. The lake ices over nicely in the winter. Very pretty. In fact, the winter is a great time to come here because there are very few people. It's a fun little walk around the lake, too. The water is pretty cold, because it's mostly glacier runoff. Thank you for reading this review! I really do love this place, and my family has great memories from here. The staff is always friendly, and we have a great time. My one issue with this park is the grass situation. The photos on the website show the grass GREEN and ALIVE. However, every time we have gone over the last several years, its been nothing but dead and brown. If that was corrected this place would be phenomenal.

Difficult to get a reservation but we go here every year with a large group. Kids love the water, adults love the quite. There is a nice/short mountain bike trail about a mile long with a good climb. The trail gets narrow at times but anyone with moderate experience would do well.

Awesome place to camp in the summer, so many things to do and see. It's within a block away from Palisades golf course. The fishing is fantastic they are pretty big for trout.

Fantastic small campground for families. Clean and green with warm showers and nice restrooms. Easy access to lake, including rentals of kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, and more. Took family trailer and had everything we needed for days of fun with kids. Boat docks and launches and rocky areas for fishing, playgrounds, trails, and even fun for golfers and ATVs. We will be back!
