Pulling off I70 late in the evening into a camping spot in the dark, to wake up in this astounding beautiful landscape. We followed what another reviewer did: taking our morning coffee while walking up to Castle Rock in the rising sun for breathtaking views. We surely will come back here to spend more time.

Awesome campground off the interstate. This gem is tucked away with flush toilets but no showers. The site were pretty secluded and the were water spigots throughout the campground. We would recommend this campground.

A wonderful, quite place to spend the night. Beautiful rock formations but if you aren't hiking, there's nothing else to do except spend the night.

I stay here from time to time. It's not the most amazing place ever but if you're traveling, it's not far from the highway and it's a bit of an oasis from the high desert heat. I've found that if it's windy, sites toward the center, around the stream are best. Otherwise next to the formations is where it's at!

Where do I start.... the views.... mind blowing!! We traveled a dusty road late in the evening; we were pretty tired and desperate! We stumbled on this place be sheer chance!! The area is magnificent with scenery and trails that put postcards to shame. We took a morning hike into the castles with our morning coffee.... it was just beautiful!!! Bill the camp host was our first encounter.... what a lovely man!!! He explained the camp and what to expect and clued us in on showers at a nearby camp ground. You know how those places can be, but we realllly needed a shower so we reluctantly planned on heading there the next day. We told him we were desperate for ice and it was almost dark.... no stores in the area... and he was kind enough to call the park ranger at the State Park... who was closing up shoppe.... but would stay there till we came and got the ice. Who does that in this day and age??? Aaaand, that wonderful park ranger, after closing up shop at the museum offered to go back in and get us a roll of quarters for the showers the next day. Who does that!?!?!??? We were so grateful for their help and kindness... it started our trip off on such a positive note. After our hike, we hit the "showers.". Wow!!! Neat, clean and open 24/7!!! The road to the showers was filled with historical stops detailing ancient peoples and history!! Small short hikes... to magnificent points! But the showers..... clean.... new.... clean and wonderful! Bring your quarters. As we were leaving, we stopped at the showers and bathroom to freshen up. The host tracked us down to see if i left a wash cloth in the shower; I did. How sweet!! I hate to give away this secret treasure... but it really is. Beautiful, historic and a geological wonder!!! I can't wait to go back.
