Stayed here for the first time the week before Christmas. Cannot say enough great things about it! The entire place was impeccably decorated for the holidays. Every staff member that we encountered was more than pleasant and helpful. We had a corner room with windows on both outside walls, the blackout curtains were fantastic, they completely darkened the room even in the middle of the day. Bed was comfortable, room was clean and tidy. Will definitely stay here again.
This is my second time at The Palmer House. I absolutely love this hotel. Its history and quality of service is outstanding. I made this trip as part of my Art institute getaway weekend. The Lockwood restaurant has great food. The check in and checkout staff were fantastic. The pool is clean and fairly quiet. My favorite part of the stay is the fact that the rooms are super super quiet. I was looking for this for sure. When I was in my room which is clean and elegantly decorated I felt like I was in a world all my own. I will definitely be staying here again in the future. My only complaint is that the pillows were insufficient. I had 4 on the bed but they were not comfortable. My last stay they were and I had called room service to get more. I chose not to this time and I wish I had. This is more of a personal preference for myself rather then a bad service issue.
I enjoyed my stay at the Palmer House for a work trip I attended. The room was very clean and the housekeeping staff did a good job over my three night stay. The lobby is beautiful, especially if you are staying there during the holiday season. It is centrally located in Downtown Chicago close to restaurants, shops, theatres, public transit, etc. The hotel restaurant/bar is also very good, I ordered a nice mixed drink there. The only minor critique is that the water was not very hot in the shower on the highest setting.
Great experience at The Palmer House. Service was amazing. Front desk helpful and suggested some great sites. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast onsite was good. Views from our room were amazing. Close proximity to our show venue and plenty of shopping and dining within walking distance. Highly recommend if you need to be in the theatre district of the any to visit nearby art museums.
Wow. Simply wow. The minute you walk in the Palmer House Hotel it is as if you experience the history and people that have been here all throughout history dating all the way back to the late 1800s. It is wonderful that this place has remained true to it's historic charm while also offering you all the modern amenities you could need. Walking distance to basically all things downtown and a lobby that simply begs you to sit down, relax, and enjoy your surroundings. The hotel itself is a microcosm with much to do if for some reason you would prefer to stay in and relax a bit. However, the real charm lies with the people and staff that all seem to work hard to ensure your stay goes above and beyond your expectations. Truely a wonderful hotel with a very wonderful staff. Well done. Thank you!
Great location in the city. Beautiful lobby. Fast elevators. Was disappointed they removed the Christmas decorations so fast after Christmas. Make sure and use the $25 in fee in the bar or restaurant, you paid it no matter what. Bathrooms and beds are very small and tight. Rooms: Bathrooms are very small and tight. Double beds in the room are small and barely fir 2 people.
The Palmer House has always been a favorite of mine when I stay in Chicago. The rooms are always clean and wonderfully furnished especially for a historic hotel. The reception staff is always friendly and accommodating. My last stay this past weekend was lovely even though they were experiencing some app related issues with their digital check-in. It was the first time I’ve been in a line for members longer than the regular check-in. It’s my usual go-to hotel due to its proximity to the art museum and other theaters in the area. Despite being in the loop which can be questionable at night, the hotel itself feels very safe. And their lobby bar is definitely a must while visiting. The hotel was beautiful in their holdiay decorations to is past weekend. The room was a corner room and was exceptionally quiet. The only minor complaint which is very minor, there was a used soap bar in the shower tray which must have been overlooked. But again, it’s very minor. Even though it’s not as modern as London House which I also stay at sometimes in Chicago, Palmer is still a friendlier and quieter.
Recently stayed at the Palmer house in December. My fiancée and I were in town to see the Grinch Musical. We always love staying around Christmas time, the hotel is truly a magical place this time of year. During our stay we had dinner a Potters which was very good food and service. We also ordered room service and got the world famous brownie! I can’t say enough good things about this hotel!
I loved the hotel. Easy to find great location. The hotel is a classic, so many areas are very elegant and grand. Some areas show their age, but none are the crucial ones. Rooms can be on the smaller side, but I did not mind. I had a king-size room, and it felt tight, but it was good value. Parking can seem expensive at $75 a day, but I did one of the cheaper per day options, and since it didn't have in and out options quickly, I passed the $75 per day. So, I was happy with the daily valet in and out options at $75. It is one of the most complete gyms I have seen in a hotel other than Vegas resorts. Lockers and showers included, steam room has been shut down permanently. Very complete spa services list, good options, and value on some choices. Lobby bar and restaurants are excellent. For me, the main bar allowed for excellent settings to enjoy drinks. Rooms: Rooms are everything you need. Some version might be on the smaller side. But excellent. Walkability: Amazing location and walkable to almost any area downtown. Food & drinks: Great and plenty of options within the hotel, not to mention right next and around hotel block. One of their best assets.
This is a place where Brownie cake was created!!! Cappuccino was very good but not the best!!!! The architecture of this building is absolutely outstanding! Interior of the mane room is in French-German style of the 1900 open. Great sculptures of women, second light and balcony are looking now like a new idea.
