Over 3 Weeks for a Superior Sheds shed permit to be issued/inspected. Official lot surveys, flood elevation certificate, and building engineering diagrams were supplied. How much easier can I make it?

There are a handful of helpful workers, but the majority are very negative personalities. On an average day you will spend 30-60 min waiting for each department you need to see.

I give two stars for the few permit techs who are helpful and knowledgeable but give 0 stars for the constant misinformation and inconsistency. We've been building contractors since 2001 and have always had inconsistent service in Pasco. I've applied for permits for identical shed/concrete slabs on similar lots, same sizes, everything, but one permit took a few weeks and the other was tied up for 2 months. One had to keep going through revisions while the other sailed thru. Sometimes they tell you to get a septic permit - for an existing septic system, mind you - and others they don't. Homeowners are so frustrated they often say "wow, I didn't think I could even do work on my own property because the county never tells you the right thing." The other problem is that most of our permitted jobs that have been signed off MONTHS AGO are still showing open. No one knows how to close them out and I've been told to send emails to "inspection schedulers" but have had no reply. This makes the builders look like idiots to the homeowners, who, by the way, are taxpaying citizens of Pasco County. I'm tired of clients asking me why I don't know what is required for a simple shed permit because the information changes constantly. One tech will go by the book and others skate through. Intake fees vary - one day I'm paying $50 the next it's $190. If you ask or complain, the answer is, "it's always been that way since I've been here" which is a lie, since it wasn't like that the week or month before. If the Building Commissioner doesn't take it seriously, they should all be voted out of office and replaced with fed up citizens and builders who can use common sense to get the job done.

My experience here was dreadful. No one knows what they’re doing. I’ve gotten over 4 different answers for the same question and it seems as if you’re a bother to everyone there.

I was told by the person that installed my AC that the county said an inspector will be coming out today to inspect his work. I called the building department at 10:30 a.m. to see what time or at least to get a window of time that their inspector would be out.  The lady who took my call said that the computer system had just gone down and that she would call me back when it came back up so that I could have the number and the name of the inspector that would come out today. She never called me back, so I called again at 2:30 p.m. at that time nobody would take my phone call but I got a phone tree that gave me a message saying where on the internet that I could find the name of their inspector that was related to the permit case number. At that time I did not have access to a computer so I just had to wait and see when he would arrive. So I stayed home all day for this inspector to come to my house and inspect the work and did not leave my house all day and the inspector never came by. Shameful, unprofessional, and if they were a privately owned business they would be out of business.
