I spent three days here in the deepest crisis of my life. Everything about my experience was prison-like, from the dingy facility to the food to the rock-hard beds. The staff were either cold and dismissive or nosy and intrusive. When I cried, I was told to "cheer up." When I laughed, I was told I wasn't "taking things seriously." There was nothing to do but pace or sit in a small sun room and doodle on coloring pages (but be warned: anything you draw can be psychoanalyzed to death). My psychiatrist came across as grouchy and bored. I felt like a zoo animal whenever the flock of interns came through to observe us crazies in our natural habitat. The only one whom I felt really helped me was my counselor, whose name I unfortunately forget. She advocated for me and helped me arrange aftercare at a wonderful place, and she is the only reason I gave a full two stars. I couldn't even shower by myself, but I've never felt more alone in my life. I couldn't have hurt myself if I tried, but I have never felt more unsafe.

Can't get anybody to answer the damn phones. all I want to do is reschedule my appointment but they deem it necessary to tie up my valuable time with a 15-minute long phone menu only to reach a gosh damn answer machine. screw pathways, they help as much as a flat tire during rush hour.
