The atmosphere was absolutely stunning. The food was OK. Not 5 stars, but not terrible either. Just your average dinner. What I really didn't like about the place was the terrible service. Our waitress didn't smile, didn't refill our drinks until we asked multiple times. The wait time for the food was very long. We waited for a good hour before our food was served. Service was extremely slow and they were not helpful. I was extremely disappointed considering that their prices aren't cheap. Not worth what you pay for.

Went to the grill after a round of golf. Ordered our food and one hour and fifteen minutes later we asked where our food was and the staff was so nonchalant about the horrible wait. They said, oh, were busy! Another waitstaff comes over and asked if we got our check!?? We said we asked the waitress to check on our food. She didn't understand English and told the hostess we wanted our check. What a mess! Service is the worst we have seen in Newport Beach! Lefty angry at the way we were treated and hungry! Don't waste your time!

Pelican Grill holds a reserved place in my mind. Out of chaos we met here finding a sense of order underneath magnificent Palladian architecture (try Andrea for fine dining). Often I met a gentlemen here after work. We exchanged jokes, information and kind gestures---games sometimes.

Pan Seared Salmon or Braised Short Ribs for him and I revered hand-crafted bread made on site in the oven. Epic ocean views and Bren's Pelican Hill Golf Club were a delight.  This resort became the atmosphere I decided a date night became a committed affair impromptu.

5 star cuisine like the resort and man behind it. Attention to detail is class ( tiny things do matter most e.g. Golf Club has a shoe attendant). Watermelon Beet salad (sans beets) and for him braised short ribs---so tender falling off of the bone. Superb, thanks Mr. Bren.

The Pelican Grill gives you an exquisite dining experience. The meals have tantalizing and flavours and the atmosphere is very warm. Michael our server offered excellent care during our dining experience.
