I had a terrible experience with this office. I went there for a routine general checkup because they happen to be in my neighborhood. The reception staff was uncomfortably rude and seemed to be openly hostile to patients. The dentist had poor bedside manner and acted like she desperately needed a vacation. I had X-rays performed and was referred to an oral surgeon for wisdom teeth removal. I took a day off from work to see the oral surgeon, who promptly told me that I was too old for wisdom tooth surgery, gave me the name of a second opinion, and then walked out the room. The appointment was so brief that I hardly had a chance to blink. The US healthcare system is broken, and while I certainly don't have the answers, this exemplifies how it routinely exploits normal, hard-working citizens. I originally went in for a routine checkup, and ended up paying extra money for special tests/x-rays, followed by a 2 minute specialist consultation - only to be told that none of it was necessary. And of course, I was still responsible for all of the associated fees and payments. The lost wages I missed out on due to the unneeded specialist visit was just icing on the cake. If someone happens to read this, I'm sorry about the length of the review. Bottom line is, there are many options for dental care in the KC area - I would simply avoid this place. Joining the growing trend across the country, this office appears to be more worried about the bottom line ($$$) than actual patient care. And all we can do is sit on our broken computer chairs and type out poorly written google reviews about it. Welcome to the brave new world.

I rarely post reviews, but my terrible experience at Perfect Smiles warrants one. My first appointment at Perfect Smiles was due to a broken veneer. I love my regular dentist, but went to Perfect Smiles because they advertised as being experts in cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Boldry did a fantastic job on my temporary veneer. While there, I attempted to use the coupon for free x-rays on the Perfect Smiles website, and was told it couldn’t apply to this kind of x-rays but rather would apply to the x-rays taken at my first hygiene appointment. [No problem, as I planned to return for a hygiene appointment and would use it then.] Also, because the appearance of my permanent veneer is important to me, I paid the extra $600 for custom shading and shaping, and also $100 for the “whitening for life” program to get my teeth whiter before the placement of my permanent veneer. I spent 3 weeks whitening my teeth before my next appointment. At my next appointment, the custom veneer technician was nearly 30 minutes late. I saw Dr. Boldry briefly, and she told me that the technician would thoroughly discuss the shading and shaping of my veneer. After showing up almost 30 minutes late, the technician spent less than 60 seconds with me, only held up one shade to my teeth, and then left the room. I assumed she would be right back, but the dental assistant returned and said I was all done. I told her that I was still waiting for the technician to return to discuss the shade and shape, but the assistant informed me that the technician had already left the building. At my next appointment, for the placement of my permanent veneer, the technician showed up nearly 45 minutes late. Unsurprisingly given the effort put into my last appointment, the veneer was darker than the rest of my teeth. Also, when first placed in my mouth, the veneer left a large gap between my front teeth. I explained that the gap shouldn’t be there, as there has never been a gap in my natural smile. The technician said it was supposed to be that way. Thankfully, Dr. Boldry had the technician modify the veneer to lessen the gap (there remains a small, unnatural gap today). When I expressed my concern about the darkness of the color, Dr. Boldry informed me that it just appeared dark because of the redness of my gums from irritation caused by the procedure (unfortunately, the veneer color remains dark today). The 3 weeks of whitening (and $100) was all for nothing, because now I must let my teeth darken to match my veneer. Despite my mouth being numb and the color being off “because of the redness in my gums,” I was presented with a waiver to sign stating that the veneer fit right and was the right color. This was a very poor experience, but if you’re still reading, it gets worse. After my last two appointments, I didn’t want to go back, but if I wanted to get the custom upper tray (included in the “whitening for life” program I already paid for), I had to go in for a hygiene appointment. At my hygiene appointment, I again presented the coupon for free x-rays (the same coupon I presented at my first appointment and was told it couldn’t apply then, but would apply at my first hygiene appointment). I was told that the coupon would cover the cost of the x-rays, and so I agreed to have the x-rays taken even though I just had x-rays 6 months ago at my regular dentist. A month later, I received a bill for the x-rays. I left Perfect Smiles a voicemail stating that the bill was in error, and thought that would be the end of it. But then I received an e-mail response saying the bill was correct. I responded that the bill was absolutely not correct because I presented the coupon and was told it would apply. I then received an e-mail from Ms. Alford at Perfect Smiles ACCUSING ME OF LYING ABOUT EVER PRESENTING A COUPON. I was shocked and appalled. I have never disputed a medical bill in my life, but you can bet I will be disputing this one. If choose to go to Perfect Smiles, you should closely monitor any bills you receive for suspicious charges.

I needed some work done on some older dental work that my previous dentist wasn't comfortable fixing. He told me that I would need to find a dental office that specialized in dental implants. After reading some reviews and searching online, I found Dr. Boldry at Perfect Smiles. She is AWESOME. I am so happy with the work she did and my teeth don't hurt anymore. Hands down, the best experience I have ever had at the dentist.
