It has every imaginable food brand any animal could want, but I too wish the living animals spending their days there, were better tended to.  And I mostly wish the cats who seem forever to be in the windows waiting for someone to notice and take them to real homes wouldn't be so expensive to adopt.  They would move them to real homes faster.  And don't please tell me that PetCo can't afford to do this.  It's actually heartbreaking to see the same cats there week after week. I brace myself before going in to shop there.

Though literally every Petco abuses their animals, I'm not giving these guys the slip. They let dead fish sit in massive piles in tanks with living fish. I've seen many of their reptiles missing toes and fingers, some stuck in permanent shed due to their utterly wrong conditions. Their ferrets are all shoved together into a tiny cage filled with feces. When they did have rats, nearly all of them were diseased or sick in some way. Their birds are cooped up in cramped cages completely devoid of outside interaction. All of their small animals have improper ventilation. All of their reptiles have improper heating and humidity. They treat their fish like they're worth nothing, which even from a business standpoint is stupid. I rescued a betta from this place, and despite the medicine and care he now receives, it appears he is going to spend the rest of his life deformed because you guys couldn't spare him $15 for a heater, filter, and a water change every once in a goddamn while. Yes, this is endemic of a larger problem in this company, but this place is disgusting. Every single time my mother and I walk into this business, we feel guilty that we can't take any of these poor animals home. The whole place feels like a graveyard with eyes. Also, don't trust anything these people say, as Petco people notoriously get things wrong about upkeep. Do your research before buying an animal, don't buy on impulse, and check a shelter before you adopt an animal from here. Every living thing deserves respect, which is something these people don't seem to understand.

New Milford Petco sold me a hamster with wet tail did not inform me of the disease and if it was contagious knowing I had another hamster at home. later that week I had to bring the hamster back and they switched him out with a teddy bear long hair hamster male. then on a couple days later my hamster (also a teddy bear long haired female) that I had gotten from petco in Brookfield and have had for months with no issue such as wet tail or anything like that, had become blind and her rear end covered in diaherra, and the male teddy I had gotten from new milford had got the disease (wet tail). I had brought both hamsters back to new milford petco in hope that they would either put my poor hamster down so she wasnt in any pain anymore or treat her if she was treatable but instead they turned me down sending me home with her but taking the male hamster instead and telling me and my boyfriend that we had caused this and that it was our faults because we smoked cigarettes. In my opinion that isn't right at all so later that same day, I had to make the hardest desicion of my life that day I had to leave my hamster at the doors of petco hoping that they would find her and be forced to help her. since then, my female teddy bear has passed away, and no one has informed me on if my male teddy bear hamster made it or not. morale of this is NEW MILFORD PETCO KILLED TWO INNOCENT HAMSTERS AND MAYBE EVEN THREE AND TRIED TO PUT BLAME ON THE PERSON WHO DIDN'T CAUSE IT AND WAS SOLD A HAMSTER WITH THAT DISEASE BUT WAS NEVER TOLD THAT IN BUYING PROCESS LET ALONE BEFORE I EVER LEFT THE STORE SO PETCO REALLY NEEDS TO BE SHUT THE HELL DOWN.

Nice store. Recently opened. I always will wish that Petco wouldn't sell reptiles, birds and other hobby pets as I never feel they get the care they deserve, but they do adoptions for puppies and kittens.

Price is a little high compared to Walmart across the street but it was nice to be able to bring my dog in there and not have to leave her in the car Petco it's where the pets go
