One-On-One Care Is Our Focus

PhysioCare Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine is a physical therapy practice owned and operated by John H. Bradford, MSPT. The goal at PhysioCare is to help the patient recover from an injury or surgery with one-on-one patient centered care. At other physical therapy offices you may not always work with a physical therapist. Or all too often the physical therapist is working with multiple patients at a time. At PhysioCare you will receive thorough evaluations, quality care and well-rounded treatment programs on a one-one basis by a physical therapist to provide the individualized expert assessment and guidance you need to achieve a complete and lasting recovery.

Here at PhysioCare Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine we offer programs beyond traditional physical therapy.As a physical therapists, we have a deep understanding of human movement and biomechanics. At the same time, we understand the essential role that physical fitness plays in human health. This is why we developed Physio- FIT programs to help the people in our community get fit and stay well, whether returning to full function after physical therapy or just looking to exercise safely, intelligently and for the best results. We currently offer group wellness/fitness classes to improve one's flexibility, wellbeing, strength, fitness, and overall wellness. We are currently offering yoga, Zumba,and Physio-Fit group exercise classes.


Do I need a prescription to begin physical therapy?
As of October 1, 2006, state legislature passed the direct access bill for physical therapy in Connecticut. This law permits patients to seek physical therapy without the need to obtain a prescription first. This would allow you to obtain physical therapy immediately without having to see your physician or orthopedist first. This law is not intended to defer you seeking medical attention for your orthopedic care, but rather allow you to receive immediate effective care first. Once we begin therapy, we will contact your physician and detail the plan of care. You always have the option of seeing your physician before or during the physical therapy regime. Insurance carriers, including Medicare, fully support this change and direct access does not negatively affect reimbursement.

This change in state law applies for both exacerbations of older injuries as well as new orthopedic conditions. Upon evaluating you, if an immediate need is found to refer you to your family physician and/or orthopedist, we will direct you appropriately.
