It is really two completely different lakes. During the winter it is beautiful and secluded. During the summer it is a packed tourist trap. If you do go in the summer I would suggest the hike around the lake or the hike back to cleo's baths.

Never stayed at the resort. Just hiked around the lake. Off season is great because you actually get parking. Otherwise plan to come real early because it seems that all of California is at the lake.

Very nice and convenient to access ski resorts. Spacious cabins. Heating system is a bit odd (single heater in the middle of the cabin) but overall it does it's job. Nice library with lots of books and some games for leasure time.

Nice place to get out into the mountains Forest's. The lake is a beautiful setting with the hills and trees surrounding it. Very clean and well maintained.i go every summer for the last 35yrs
