About

Pioneers Park Nature Center official account.
Since 1963, we have served the Lincoln area as an environmental education center and wildlife sanctuary.

Story

Welcome to Pioneers Park Nature Center…
668 acres of tallgrass prairie, woodlands, wetlands and a stream.

Since 1963 the Nature Center has served the Lincoln area as an environmental education center and wildlife sanctuary. Eight miles of hiking trails wind through various habitats and take visitors past non-releasable raptor exhibits, as well as bison, elk, and white-tailed deer.

Two interpretive buildings house hands-on and small animal exhibits. The Edna Shield’s natural play area for Children provides a place for kids to dig, build and climb. Prairie, bird, children’s and herb gardens with many labeled specimens are both beautiful and instructive. Programming includes a preschool, nature camps, school hikes, scout badge work, birthday parties, special events and a variety of other classes for all ages. The Nature Center is open 362 days a year.

Admission is free, suggested donations $3/person, $5/family

Great Park to drive around. It has a great playground, memorials, and things for kids to look at. Also a great Pokemon hang out. The nature center is from where everyone should check out at least once in their life.

Went sledding. Its a pretty large area for the nature buffs. There are 2 slides to help you speed down the hill, but only the solid plastic style sleds work on it ( no tubes or foam styles ). You will walk back uphill, so be ready for some exercise.

Great place to take kids! You can always find something to do whether its the playground, nature trails, or feeding the geese. Fun nature center and wildlife preserve. Can get a little crowded but overall a great park.

There was not much in there but it was pretty cool. There was a barn owl, I thought it was fake and almost touched it till it turned its head to look at me and then it blinked. There are 2 snakes the lady working fed them mice when we were there so that was a cool experience and there are a few Turtles.
