Best falafel, pita and hummus I have ever had in NJ. I am vegan so falafel is a big part of my diet when I am looking to go out to eat. Pita on Essex knocked it out the park. Nice, clean, open restaurant. The staff was so nice (a bunch of younger kids who were ON POINT and polite and working hard). The food was very fresh and not oily and the greens in my salad were fresh and crisp and not soggy or wilted. I will be a regular of Pita on Essex.

Food was awesome. Large portions and everything was delicious. Lamb was tender and appetizers were very good

Falafal sandich is excellent. Lamb skewers are also very good. Their pita is from Israel and unlike anything else around. Unfortunately, the service is poor so I now do takeout only.

I drive 20 min out of my way just for the falafel. Eventually I am going to try other stuff on their menu. Edit, tried the lamb, impressed.

We took a trip from Manhattan to go NJ mall shopping and after doing some searching for a place to grab lunch on the way, we found Pita on Essex. The reviews were good so we were hopeful. I can honestly say that the reviews are right on - this place is delicious! The pita was soft and fresh, the falafel were perfect, and the hummus, shawarma, and baba ghanoush were delicious. We got some baklava to go and it was perfect. This place is definitely worth a stop!
