Having been in the business for 40 years, I have had experiences with many engine shops.  I wish I could say that Poplar Grove is the best in the country.  I can't because I haven't used them all.  I'm sure there are many good over haulers out there who do fine work.  I doubt if anyone is better than PG.  What I can say is I doubt if there are better people who work there.  The mechanics who are very knowledgable and helpful, parts department people who cheerfully helped us long after they were supposed to go home, secretaries who were a hoot to talk to, all the way up to the owner Steve Thomas who is as straight and honest as they come.   Now the best part:  Dave Allen is probably they guy you will talk to when you call.  There is no one who I know who is more knowledgable about engines.   Have a problem?  Dave will probably have the answer.  If not, if not he will find out, and he will call you back.  Every time I talk to him I feel like I should give him my credit card to charge me for everything I had just learned.  A walking encyclopedia, or should I say computer.  To put this in one sentence, everyone ar PG doesn't treat you like they would like to be treated.  They treat you better.
