We are located completely within the boundary of Appalachia. We are 133 churches strong!
About two-thirds of our congregations are identified as small churches with fewer than one hundred members. We are responsible for the mission and government of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and its congregations throughout 41 counties of our state (plus two counties in neighboring states). It assists in making connections between local congregations and the mission of the more inclusive governing bodies of our church.
We also provide inspirational leadership and resources to congregations for faithful, vital ministry and witness, to the end that congregations move beyond survival to mission.
We are a baptized covenant people
(Jeremiah 31:31-34; Mark 1:9-15)
Dependent upon God’s grace as fully revealed in Jesus Christ.
Empowered by God’s grace through the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, we are called to
Build and strengthen relationships with God and one another (G-1.0100)
Nurture and equip elders for their ministry. (G-6.0304)
Imagine new possibilities for our future. (Book of Order, Ch 3)
