Phenomenal Christmas Day Dinner dining experience. My parents and I had reservations for Christmas Day dinner this year and what a treat and celebration Proper Grit truly was! Upon being seated, we were warmly welcomed by our server who eagerly shared the specials and offered us drinks. We started with the hanging glazed bacon over cornbread and wow, you have to try it! The ambience was perfect for the holiday with exquisite background music and soft glow lighting that made the evening extra special. You can tell this is a place that has top of the line management and that no detail is spared! The men ordered the salmon, the colossal shrimp and gnocchi and we ladies went a little lighter with the shrimp cocktail and mushroom bruschetta. All was tantalizing to the taste buds! There were no leftovers and all plates were cleaned! As we were finishing up, the perfect touch of exquisite customer service was the manager maybe his name was Ryan? coming over to double check that our meals were satisfactory and that all went well with our visit. In this day and age that was a welcomed visit. You can tell this place is run top notch! If you haven’t taken the time or chance to head over to Proper Grit inside the Ben, I highly recommend that you do. You will not be disappointed! Vegetarian options: Mushroom bruschetta, gnocchi
I took my friend her for her birthday lunch. We ordered our food with family style in mind we ordered a few dishes and shared it's a great way to try more dishes. We loved all of the dishes we choose. This restaurant is beautiful inside and out. Our waiter was amazing. They bring you your check in a book which is a cute touch.
Very good place to eat at The Ben. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Lots of different food options and a very well stocked Bar. One very interesting item on that appetizer menu is Hanging Bacon dripping over top of Cornbread. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and our evening together. Definitely recommend checking this place out for Breakfast or dinner.
PG it’s the restaurant inside The Ben Hotel, small place, very loud being in a hotel and right next to the lobby. I had brunch with my friends, the food was ok, not what I was expecting from a restaurant being at The Ben Hotel. The service was wonderful, Hailey the bartender was amazing, very professional, very attentive to details. They have a great staff and the place it’s very clean.
Overall good breakfast/brunch. The smoked salmon platter was my favorite item we ordered over the weekend. Since we stayed at The Ben we had brunch here a few times. Servers were friendly but would disappear for a while. On two occasions I needed a server and they took quite a while to return. My husband said the pancakes and French toast not pictured were very average. The breakfast potatoes had little flavor but the omelette was tasty. Finally, the truffle croissant sandwich was quite good.
Jennifer and the team here are incredibly accommodating for special occasions and provided an amazing experience. Whether you're looking for a business lunch or a romantic dinner I've experienced both and can't recommend this place and stuff highly enough. Probably one of West palms hidden treasures is a restaurant. PS brunch here is also amazing and get the bread pudding for dessert
Today was my 2nd and last time visiting this restaurant. The 1st experience was great. The service was stellar. Today, not so much. We arrived today at 4:30pm for an afternoon lunch. We sat down at the bar there was only one other couple and a group leaving. 8 min went by. Crickets . The waitress and waiter gave us ZERO acknowledgment. We sat waiting at an empty bar. Crickets. The same waiter and waitress came from around the bar and walked out to one of the tables looked over at us and looked away. At that point we found a team member on the inside and requested to see a manager. Blake came out. We told Blake that we had been sitting for a while without any acknowledgment and asked him if he thought that was acceptable and he just stared at us. Didn’t offer to have someone to help us. BLAKE DO BETTER.!!!!! IF your the M.O.D. Your team is a reflection of YOU. Today the restaurant was in reflection of YOU. Your team mirrored your behavior, therefore , they need to do better. Obviously you checked out. I strongly suggest that you check in. Your paycheck should be a reflection of your service. You Blake are a ZERO. Like my stars.
Ashley and Kenya killed it at the bar, super attentive and friendly. Food was delicious and drinks were superb. Ashley made us some of her own hand made cocktails. Each were delicious, one was called the Lemon Twist and the other was called the Blueberry Bombshell. Overall, a very pleasant experience, definitely will be back.
Labor Day weekend at the Proper Grit reminded me why we celebrate it. Beautiful restaurant.. looked forward to brunch in West Palm Beach. Everything was top notch until it came to my omelet... cold bland and wrong..I couldn't get the servers attention i debated just leaving and my hunger was getting the best of me and my mood, but a manager named Cristian saved the day. Like a pro he noticed something was wrong and came over. Took care of my omelet and made me feel like a valued customer again.. its the labor he put in on that Labor day that made the difference! Thanks Cristian! We will be back to try dinner.
I have mixed feelings on giving this review because on our first day here we had a great experience. Attentive server, great tasting food, just an overall delightful experience. We decide to stay on property for breakfast because the menu looked good, and it made the most sense with checking out, etc. The hostess staff was the exact opposite from the previous day. Seemed annoyed, unsure where to sit us and just very much like they didn’t want to be there. We were seated immediately and upon us arriving to our table there was some confusion on where to seat us because a previous party had shuffled around. Instead of rolling with it, my husband and I stood there while one of the wait staff and the hostess pointed out who switched where with a disgusted look on their faces. We went on to order some coffee and food. You could see our waitress was bothered. Not from us but I am sure she felt overwhelmed with everything going on. Fast forward to our food… my husbands meal came out and then my meal 8 minutes after the fact. The problem I have with this is that our waitress specifically apologized and said the manager would be bringing it out and to talk to me shortly about it. When my meal came she set it in front of me said “here you go” and just walked away. I’m just a little baffled from this. I ate, we received the check and went on our merry way. Did I pay full price for a meal that should have be complimentary… yup… and it really irritates me. My advice to the Proper Grit is to have a better manager with personal skills working breakfast. We all know things happens but the least she could have done was apologized for the miscommunication and comped me my meal.
