I went in the store looking for a pair of Birkenstocks, as they are the only place to buy them in Lancaster. I wasn't greeted initially, but when I found the sandals I wanted, I was able to get the attention of a staff member. The display shoe stated the price as $89.99. The staff member was able to find my size and asked if I'd like to try them on. I declined as I have several other pairs, and said I'd take them. On the way to the register the associate said she needed to check on something. She walked to another staff member and had a short conversation. She then preceded to tell me that the box said $94.99, and they wouldn't honor the $89.99. Apparently, "it's the owners policy". I know it is only $5, but it's the principle of it. This isn't the first time I have had issues, nor am I the only one I know who has had issues. They have forever lost me as a customer. I'll buy my Birkenstocks from Zappos.

This is a good shoe store for men. They have several medium and higher end quality mens brands. Carry Dansko and some higher end Sperry shoes. I can't speak for the women lines but judging from what I saw they have quite a vast selection of women's brands.

RB Shap has come a long way since it opened 30+ years ago. The staff is willing to help customers find what they need. They sell higher end shoes with plenty of support. I'm always able to find exactly what I need. It's the only place I go to buy shoes.

I've had previously OK experiences at RB Shap but last Sunday, I was treated exceptionally rudely by a tall, large woman who tailed me as if I was a thief, sighed loudly when i would replace a shoe I picked up to inspect, and who threw down a box of shoes at me. When I questioned the size on the side of the box (the label read USA 9), she argued with me that the shoes were size 8. I apologized for inconveniencing her and left. I will never return to RB Shap. I cannot imagine why the owner of the store would allow such a miserable person to interact with customers.
