Terrible customer service. In some instances, his work was decent and the last time I used him, he ruined my very expense pair of shoes, which just needed heals replacement. Very rude owner (Mr. Bong). Absolutely horrible. Would never use his service again. Highly recommend Hillsdale Shoe Repair. Very knowledgeable owner. Can fix anything.

I tried for years to find a shoe repairman who could stretch my right shoe properly to accommodate my misshapen right foot. No one else was interested enough to do it right. Mr. Bong knew just what I was talking about and was not satisfied until I tried it on and it fit without the pain I usually had with a new pair of shoes. I have recommended him to others who complained of problems similar to mine, and they were very happy with the results.

I recently had a horrible experience with this shop and if it would be possible to give 0 stars, I would. On Jan 22nd, I dropped off 5 pair of shoes (4 were my favorite pair of fashion boots that just needed re-heeling and polish, and one was a pair of heels that I thought perhaps there was no hope for as they had been mangled by a dog) and was told to return on the 29th of January with $100 "CASH ONLY". The shop owner confirmed he may not be able to do anything for the heels but that was all the additional information I got. I happened to be out of town on the 29th so came by after work within 4 days but unfortunately at 5:45 he was already closed. One more business trip in between and I return the following week (early February) - there's a sign on the door saying "CLOSED UNTIL APRIL 1st".....HEH?? I can't get my favorite boots for 2 MONTHS? During the time of year when you WEAR BOOTS? In the mean time I have no choice and have to buy a cheap pair to get me thru the two months. When I return he informs me that he was closed because of back surgery but took ZERO accountability for his absence AND now the bill was $119.75 despite the fact that he did not in fact fix the heels. So - I'm out two months of wear, and when it originally was $100 for 5, now it's $120 for 4????!!!! He got quite angry when I inquired if he could allow a discount for the amount of time I couldn't wear my shoes, only offering a $10 discount after a ton of back and forth. He grabbed all the shoes and took them behind the counter before we were finished talking. Kinda seems like stealing, if you ask me. I couldn't stomach paying a crook with a horrible attitude, nor was I interested in getting physically aggressive to retrieve my belongings, so there they sit. Do NOT use this service!

I needed an emergency repair on some business shoes. I was dumb and brought them in Wednesday at the end of business and needed them back by the end of business the next day. He repaired them for me, and didn't charge extra for expediting the repair. He was courteous and his work was very nice. I would return in the future for any repairs of the sort.
