OUR STORY
Ramen Tatsunoya was born on May 14th, 1999.
The Kamitsu branch, which is the very first store, is in Kurume City, Fukuoka, where founder, Ryuta Kajiwara, was born and raised. It wasn't an easy start, because Kurume is pretty competitive when it comes to ramen.Tonkotsu ramen originated in Kurume along with many established ramen shops with loyal followings. You could imagine, a newcomer wasn't easily accepted, so at first, the store struggled. What distinguished Ramen Tatsunoya from the rest, was the dedication of its founders to perfecting the ultimate bowl of ramen. This dedication to provide “kando” (Japanese for a feeling of awe-inspiring), and to give more than expected, has been rewarded with a ramen-ya that is buzzing with excitement, as it grows in popularity. In 2002, a second shop, “Kurume freeway junction” opened, followed by the third store, two years later, in Kumamoto City. Three more stores opened in 2006, and one year later, a dream came true with Ramen Tatsunoya opening in Tokyo. Today, there are nine Ramen Tatsunoya shops, and five more under a different label, “Ramen Ibuki” in Japan.
