Chips aren't freh but not bad, no draft beers, clean place, service was average. Food could be better but wasn't bad. The atmosphere is the best part. This place has the potential to be a hot spot just isn't there.
Wait staff was really odd and mute. One guy just appeared and mumbled “do you want something to drink”…. No greeting or anything else… my only response was do you work here…??? I had no idea who he was. The food was extremely blahhhh and the margaritas…. Well, the attached picture…. This was my old glass they removed from the table, only to later serve the same used glass to another member of our table some time later… This is my lipstick… We were absolutely horrified and disgusted! Avoid this place at all costs, because if this is what they are doing with glasses, imagine what they are doing with food
Had been here a couple of years ago after churches were out so the were busy and things were okay but not Special. Mathis was a week day after the lunch run and everything was pretty good. I am really big on on my enchiladas bring HOT, with heat. When they say most places be careful the plate is hit,I usually give it my in own test. This is passed and everything was pretty darn good. Service was excellent, prices were decent to lunch specials. It's a little hard to tell these days what " good" prices are since things are changing and going up so quick. Overall would go back for lunch. Since 7 Leguas moved out to 105, there isn't that many places at 2978 and 1488 for decent Mexican food.
It’s been awhile since we have eaten here. I was hesitant because of the reviews thinking the place had gone down hill since we had been here last, but that wasn’t the case at all. We brought my son here after his team won a football game. Granted it was later in the evening, but the service was great and the food was as good as I remember it. We will probably be coming more often now.
First and last time at Ranchero’s on a Sunday afternoon around 3:00. Only a few diners in this attractive and massive interior. First impression was a wow for the design and cleanliness, BUT we were not welcomed with a smile or good service. We were immediately seated and we both ordered a beer no Bud Lite on draft. Chips didn’t taste fresh and salsa was watery. Asked hostess who seated us to be moved to another table because a/c vent was pointed at us. She said “sure” and motioned to another area a few steps away and then she proceeded to sit at the table she was sharing with another person with her back to the entrance door and us. I had to move all our items over to the other table! Menu items seem overpriced and based upon the chips and salsa we decided not to order. We asked for our check after 25 minutes of being completely ignored, and went to the lively Goode &Co Cantina to eat!
The stakes are surprisingly good. Great flavor. Atmosphere is what you would expect and service are hit or miss. We have had incredibly good and attentive service and then the next time it's just bad. Just inconsistent. Go check it out and give it a try for your self.Food: 4/5
Ranchero's is one of the best Mexican Food restaurants in North Houston. The environment is big, open, comfortable, tavern-like that is meant to hang out and enjoy good food and good times. It also has an adjacent bar attached. The food is authentic, and provided in generous servings. The service is friendly and low-pressure, and the prices are reasonable, especially the lunch menu which is available 7-days a week.
When the hostess says "you don't want to sit on the patio...they forget you out there", it doesn't set your expectations very high... We sat inside. Service was OK. Margarita was below average and fajitas came with broccoli and cauliflower ‍
It's a good place to eat, my husband and I frequent here because the food is good. Happy hour every day cheap margaritas. If you like black beans and you go in the evening, ask for the black bean salsa dip. Hope you enjoy my review and thank you for reading.
Maybe it was just a bad day for the waiter I ain’t sure but the service was terrible and took almost an hour and a half just to finally walk out of there. I had to go to the front desk just to pay the ticket cause the waiter was no where to be found. Bit ridiculous.Recommended dishesChips and Salsa
