Great sushi. My opinion is this is the best place in the Quad Cities to grab sushi. Get what you pay for so it's good quality sushi. Large menu and prices reflect the quality of the sushi. It's a small establishment so not a lot of seating and overall service was great. We will be back again soon and highly encourage anyone to check this place out.
It has been some time since I've been out for Japanese food of any type in the Quad Cities. A few weeks ago, I had a really good bowl of ramen at a small restaurant near Warrenville/Naperville while on a work trip to my company's headquarters outside Chicago. I felt the craving for these flavors again tonight and resolved to satiate myself, eventually deciding to visit Red Ginger on Middle Road in Bettendorf. I used to come here semi-frequently with classmates when I attended Scott Community College. It appears that, since last visiting a decade ago, not much has really changed. That's not a bad thing by any means - there's plenty of seating, a TV above the bar playing sports, the sushi bar visible from the main dining area, and the same wall art and Asian accoutrements that was present before. It's a clean, nice looking space that's appropriately themed to their cuisine. With most of the tables in the dining area filled, I opted to sit at the bar for my meal. The bartender was super nice and quickly took both my drink and food orders. On this visit, I opted for a series of small appetizers, which included the edamame, gyoza, seaweed salad, vegetable tempura, and shrimp tempura. I'm glad they didn't bring all of those out at once - it was probably a bit much for just me! Even with this overabundance, everything was fantastic! The edamame were that perfect combination of clean and salty, the gyoza were crunchy and filling all at once, the seaweed salad had its characteristic sesame flavor and smooth texture, and all of the tempura was fantastic with the dipping sauce supplied. I really liked the variety of vegetables with the tempura, which included summer and winter squash, broccoli, and sweet potato. I need to remember to come here for something similar when the craving for Japanese food strikes. This place remains a fantastic place in Bettendorf for all sorts of east Asian fare. Thanks Red Ginger! Vegetarian options: The vegetable tempura is fantastic! There are plenty of other vegetarian options on the menu as well. Kid-friendliness: There were several children in the restaurant at the time I was visiting. The staff accommodated them well. I think children of the age and temperament that can handle going out to dinner would be welcome here. Parking: There's plenty of parking available in the free lot adjacent to the restaurant. I've never seen the lot completely full when I've visited here or Dunn Brothers.
The miso soup was good. Deep fried oysters were on point. Sashimi was thick cut, not my preference but fresh. Sushi rolls were ok but nothing to write home about. We asked to sit in the deep set booth but were denied by management because there was just 2 of us. I understand but to me customer service is 100% of the experience and if I want that open table, please give me the open table. They sat us at a 4 top anyway. I would go back but I am sitting in the booth.
Great sushi, Some of the best I've ever had actually!!! The staff is wonderful and very friendly!!!Food: 5/5
My sushi rolls were well made and absolutely delicious. The restaurant was very busy at 6:30 PM so ticket times were fairly long. If quick service is desired, avoid dining in during peak hours. Vegetarian options: A wide variety of vegetarian rolls and salads are on the menu. Kid-friendliness: High chairs available. Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is accessible from the sidewalk with no incline.
I love the look and atmosphere inside! The sushi is amazing. The staff very friendly and attentive. Coming from the west coast, I am very impressed.
One of my favorite places to eat for lunch! I love their lunch menu options for its affordability and selections. I can get 3 maki rolls with soup and salad for $12. That's a great deal. Only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that sometimes their food isn't consistent. I've tried them for dinner before and the food was way more expensive but didn't taste as good as lunch.
I wish I could split this review. We've been to Red Ginger many times, and to MANY other sushi restaurants. The service was VERY good. But, we were disappointed in most of our food. The rolls were not well constructed, and the taste was bland. On top of that, the nori was tough. My wife also ordered the Steak lunch. It was salty, and the meat was way chewier than what we've had there previously. Not sure why the change, but it was not up to standard. Service: 5 Food: 2
The sushi is so tiny! The rice around the outside is so sparse you can see the wrap. 2 rolls will not fill you up! But what there was of it was okay for a chain restaurant. And the waitress was very sweet.
Went yesterday for lunch good service , friendly staff and good quality food , my complaint is the portion and price. I’ve eaten here many times over the years, haven’t eaten there in 6 months. I always get the same order sashimi lunch special. Not impressed with what I was served, price used to be $10.95 now it’s $14.95, I understand inflation and such I get it , what threw me off was the portion, half the size of what the pieces were before, what a let down, I’ll give Red Ginger one more go, but I might be moving on from here and finding another sushi place.
