Went here to celebrate my daughter’s birthday because she likes sushi and we were not disappointed. I gave this place a 5 star review for their delicious and well presented dishes, the modern atmosphere, and attentive staff. The management on site was very helpful and attentive as well making sure that their customers were taken care of. I recommend trying the land and sea roll if you’re not into raw fish, the truffle sauce gave it a unique taste. I particularly was pleased with the tuna taco, salmon roll and the big Chicago roll. Next time, I will try their steaks, I recommend trying this restaurant; you won’t be disappointed!
My daughter and I went here last night as a little celebration and were greeted with super friendly service and a good experience. The music is modern upbeat but it wasn’t too loud, so we could still carry on a conversation. We stayed a while after our meal to talk and did not feel rushed to leave at all Though it was a Tuesday night and not busy. The lamb chops are the BEST I’ve ever had. They did not need the sauce to taste good but it did compliment the flavor. My daughter had 2 sushi rolls which were also phenomenal. I don’t remember which ones she ordered but the best ones were with the jalapeños on top see picture Two drinks and two meals were around $100 with tip.
Servers were very good, hostess seemed a little aloof. I am sure if I got some of the sushi or more traditional Asian dishes offered, the food would be 5 stars...but, I came at lunch time and decided to try their lunch menu burger. The plating is definitely very nice. The asparagus was perfect. The aioli, Swiss and mushrooms although kind of skimpy were very tasty. The burger itself was lacking. It lacked seasoning and it lacked any kind of moisture. It was cooked dry and the bottom of the patty was black. It had more of the texture of a bean burger than that of Angus beef. I know I will be back, but probably not for a burger.... When I do go back, this review will probably bump to 4 or 5 stars, but for first impressions...this is it.
Loved the atmosphere, very modern but cozy at the same time. The staff was very attentive and our server took such good care of us. The food was amazing!!! Everything tasted so good and was cooked to perfection! We will definitely be returning soon!Food: 5/5
Andrew and his team are great ! I always see them working sooo hard . Everytime I come here the experience is better and better. I’ve been here three or four times now. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried here from the sushi to the lamb and steak , the tuna tacos and wings, plus more. The only thing that isn’t my favorite was the pho. It didn’t really have any flavor. But that could just be my tastebuds and I tried that the first time I went when they first opened. So take that with a grain of salt. Everything else I’ve tried was realllly good. Even parm truffle fries . We tried a late night sake hour. Service was fast and a great way to experience more of the menu for a good price . Might be my new favorite thing. Will always come back !! Parking: Easy parking
For most of my life in the Quad Cities, the "downtown" part of Bettendorf has been a bit sparse. Sure, Sports Fans has been around since forever, as have the couple of pubs along State Street. There really hasn't been too much else as far as good restaurants. As a result, I was a little bit excited to see Yoso along State Street at one point while returning home. After work on this rainy Tuesday night, I opted to finally stop in for dinner. Yoso definitely seems to live up to the "modern" portion of Modern Japanese in their name. The tables and furniture all have a clean, new look about them. The whole visual aesthetic of the restaurant still seems soft, however, likely owing to the varied light sources, which include everything from accent strips near the bar, to suspended lantern-looking fixtures throughout the dining space, and even the pink backlighting around the open kitchen area. It's a carefully curated look - one that I really appreciate after spending a day in the office under florescent fixtures most of the day. As per usual for most restaurant visits, I opted to dine alone at the bar. The bartender got me set up with a soda and soon after had my food order. I opted for an order of vegetable tempura and a dragon roll, which contained shrimp tempura, eel, avocado, and cucumber. I happy to report that both were fantastic - the tempura was well seasoned, all of the vegetables were fully cooked and yet retained proper texture against the fried crunchy exterior. The Dragon roll was similarly fantastic - the combination of the crunch from both the shrimp tempura and the cucumber contrasted with the softer avocado and eel paired well together. Absolutely something that I'd come back here to eat again and again. The only thing I wasn't super crazy about was the general noise level in the space. In my humble opinion, Yoso suffers slightly from a common modern architectural choice of so many newer places today - their uncovered ceilings. Visually, I enjoy an open ceiling plenum - exposed HVAC, conduit, and supporting structures are interesting to look at and ponder as an engineer. However, the lack of noise dampening from having no drop ceiling or other similar covering amplifies music and conversation in the general area a bit too much. This wasn't terrible on the Tuesday night I visited, but to my preferences I'd be hesitant to come back on a busier night on the weekends. Overall, I really enjoyed the food during my visit to Yoso. It's great to have a place like this in downtown Bettendorf so close to home. I envision further trips for takeout in the future. Thanks, Yoso! Vegetarian options: The vegetable tempura is fantastic! Kid-friendliness: There were children in the space when I visited. They seemed to be enjoying themselves. Parking: There is plenty of parking in the free lot adjacent to the restaurant. Wheelchair accessibility: The front entrance is wheelchair accessible. Dietary restrictions: There should be plenty of options to consider for the keto or paleo consumer - there is sashimi available, as well as steak.
One of my worst dining experiences at a nice restaurant. Had a group of 17 people celebrating three birthdays. We called two weeks in advance to make sure they could accommodate such a large group. First thing we were told when we were seated was that we were limited to 10 sushi rolls to share as a group - the one reason we decided to eat here was for the sushi. Our appetizers would show up randomly throughout our meal that took over two hours to receive from the kitchen. The first meal to come out was the pho which was not very warm when if came out and sent one back to be microwaved. 30 mins later the steaks came out and one was over cooked twice after being sent back the first time. 30 mins later the remaining meals finally came out. My signature Yoso burger was burnt and dry and when I asked for extra aioli to help mask the horrible taste I was charged $1.50 on my check. Never been to a place that is so concerned about an extra charge when they knew our experience had been so horrible. Overall, we never got to share our meal together as some people were eating while others had to watch and three birthday celebrations ruined. They mostly likely should not have taken our reservations and I can assume that they can do better - I just don’t think any of us plan of giving it another try.
We ordered 4 different rolls and all of them were amazing! Also had the shishito peppers and the Yoso Burger with the truffle fries. Everything was delicious and our server Claire was absolutely on top of it the entire time!
We went there last night for a couples night out. First off we did not have any service issues that others seemed to have had when they first opened. The service was actually perfect. We started with the mussels for the appetizer that had a delicious garlic cilantro sauce that caused us eat them all. For the main course I had the lamb chops and it was very delicious. It had a perfect char on it with a very tender inside. The sauce that came with it matched well with the flavor of the lamb. I recommend to go here and try the lamb! 5 stars
Everything we had was outstanding! We all shared everything that was ordered. The grilled edamame and shishito peppers were out of this world! Our waitress was very kind and attentive! Will be going back for sure!!Food: 5/5
