Can I just start by saying that idyllwild is UNREAL? The red kettle is no exception. It has incredible service. It doesn't feel like your being served by strangers but rather people you know and appreciate. The small town feel is definitely there. The food is satisfying, I had the half a sandwich special which was half a sandwich (hence the name), a bowl of chili and a slice of homemade pie for only $9 something. The sandwich was good, the bowl of chili was great and the peach pie was incredible. I am looking forward to returning to the red kettle to try some of the other items on their menu,

I love this place!  They have a great lunch special, for $10 you get half a sandwich, a cup of soup or chili, and half a slice of pie. Perfect for light eaters. We'll be visiting again soon I'm sure.

Hubby and I went here for breakfast on a Monday. A couple walking out said it was delicious and worth a try. So we headed in. We were seated. It was pretty busy. The waitress asked what we wanted to drink. I always drink water and hubby ordered a red beer. (they call it something else like blood beer or something). He also asked for a water. The waitress had no idea how to make the beer so she had to track down another waitress. (understandable but it IS on the menu.) They brought me the water (no straw  but whatever) and none for hubby. I reminded her that he would also like a water. About 10 minutes later they brought his red beer. NO water... I asked again for his water. They came back 5 minutes later and finally took our order which we had been ready with since the first water drop off. The water for hubby didn't end up coming until after the food came and I asked AGAIN. The food was disappointing. I ordered the club sandwich and fries. The sandwich was fine but the fries were awful. Hubby ordered breakfast and the potatoes looked like they were cooked hours ago and reheated... He said it was pretty terrible.... Service was not great... We won't be back.

Chili and corn bread on a cold rainy day,  what could be better than That?  Having it at the Red Kettle!!!!!  It's not just friendly service,  they are like instantaneous family.  Their food is an original twist on old classics.  They have homemade pie and old fashion malts.  Like a Norman Rockwell painting come to life. Great way to experience small town USA!!!!!!!!!!

This is a quaint coffee shop. During holiday weekends, it gets crazy busy around 9:00 a.m. for breakfast. It's better to get there by 7:30. I have only had breakfast. A little pricey, but plenty of food. Pleasant staff, who seem to like being there.
