Wooded sites, off the beaten path, mostly seasonal camping. Beautiful stream running through the campground. Affordable.

Really beautiful place, but not a place to be if you have children that ever misbehave because a lot of people have been kicked out over their children

Let me start by saying that I am not a vindictive person, I generally keep to myself, and I steer clear of any and all drama. I believe that if you cant think of anything nice to say about a person or place then you shouldn't say anything. I don't critique people or places negatively and I don't think I have ever written a review about a place; good or bad, in my entire life. But I feel compelled to tell my story about #RedRidgeLake. This Campground is truly beautiful, and full of great people, and in no time we felt like we fit right in. We really enjoyed the pond and creek and the kids met a few friends. Things were looking good and we felt comfortable with our decision to make red ridge our seasonal camping choice. Before long we started to hear stories about the campground owner Ray Cournoyer. Several long timers warned us of his biPolar nature and his impatience with kids. Again, I'm not much for drama so I just blew the stories off as one sided hearsay that were more likely exaggerations of the truth told by people who abused the camp rules and were butt hurt over being evicted. So we just kept living our camping dream and having a great summer. Then on Thursday August 3rd after just over six weeks at the campground, I came to the campsite after work and my wife tells me that Ray told her that we have to leave the campground by Saturday because our 8 year old son pulled his pants down at the park. My son's story was that he had sand in his pants from the volleyball pit and was trying to get it out. One of the other kids there told me he was trying to be funny and mooned somebody. As we all know, kids fib and the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. At any rate we can all agree its not ok to drop your pants at the park so my wife had already talked to our son and punished him by grounding him for the rest of the day by the time I got home from work. At this point I went to talk directly to Ray about his decision to force us to leave, because as far as I know this is the first and only incident our family had at the campground. We weren't behind on paying for the site, we aren't party people, so the weren't noise complaints, The only visitors we had we reported and paid for. Our 8 year old made a mistake, and he is being punished, so I though to myself, Ray isn't an unreasonable guy so he wouldn't just kick us out, right?? Wrong... I asked if he would reconsider, because my son was grounded for the day and I assured Ray that it wouldnt happen again. nope... How bout we take the boy home for a week, that'll teach him right? nope... How bout we keep him home for the rest of the summer and try again next year? nope... get out by Saturday said Ray. Fine Ray, we'll leave I said but there is no place for me to go, and I'm gonna need more time to move our trailer... can we please have to the 15th nope said Ray... Now I'm starting to believe the stories all the long timers warned me about. So I went back to our site that Thursday, and told the family the bad news and we packed up everything we could fit and went home that night. Things got worse from there, believe it or not... I had to go back several more times to get things to take home and clean up the trailer. and every time Ray gave me more attitude. Today I went there to do a final closing on the trailer, and he literally got in my face and told me I'm trespassing. Well It turns out I'm not entirely upset we didn't get to stay at Red Ridge Lake. I'm trying to raise an 8 year old boy into a man with integrity who values responsibility. When we made him come apologize to you Ray, and he did it, I gave him a lot of credit... Its a hard but valuable lesson for a boy to realize that good men admit when they did something wrong and accept responsibility. But you showed him the kind of man you are when you shut the door in his face. And to be honest, I don't want him around "men" like you.
