I recently read of the imminent closing of the Park Terrace Movie Theater as the current owners of Park Terrace Shopping Center have other plans for the space where, for at least 40 years to my memory, discriminating movie goers have enjoyed the great intelligent, thought-provoking, creative movie-making not available in wide release. Oh Charlotte! What a disappointment! You are losing a cultural and artistic jewel from your crown! You will be that much less smart and interesting now. It is only fitting to respond to this depressing development with a bit of Nora Ephron from her classic romantic comedy, "You've Got Mail:" People are always telling you that change is a good thing. But all they're really saying is that something you didn't want to happen at all... has happened. My store is closing this week. I own a store, did I ever tell you that? It's a lovely store, and in a week it will be something really depressing, like a Baby Gap. Soon, it'll just be a memory. In fact, someone, some foolish person, will probably think it's a tribute to this city, the way it keeps changing on you, the way you can never count on it, or something. I know because that's the sort of thing I'm always saying. But the truth is... I'm heartbroken. I feel as if a part of me has died, and my mother has died all over again, and no one can ever make it right. Goodbye Park Terrace Theater! Thank you for the years of wonderful movie watching. You will be sorely missed. Now all we've got left is The Manor Theater and I'm sure the powers that be will eventually decide Charlotte must have a Baby Gap there too.

This place has loads of charm and comfort. While we are closer to Philips Place, we often choose this theater for the customer service, selection of films, and overall nostalgic, happy feelings it brings upon visiting. Plus it’s in Park Road Shopping Center where you can make a whole night of dinner, amazing gelato, and a movie!

I live in the neighborhood and love this theater and go either here or the Manor all the time! I love that they have wine and beer although I rarely get it because you have to drink it from a plastic cup. I love the indie films and love the intimacy of the theater. I recently saw Hacksaw Ridge (👎🏽) by myself and realized today that I left my vest there and have been trying to call the theater directly to see if they found it and all I get are the automated lines that don't give the option to speak to a person. So I guess I'll have to go there in person to find out if they found it. There should be a way to reach the theater in cases like this. It's also handy to be able to reach the theater if you're going to see a movie last minute and want to make sure it's not sold out before driving over. Automated lines are great but there should be an option to speak to a theater representative in certain circumstances. We still need a little human interaction from time to time.

Greatt place. Too bad it's closing at the end of this weekend.

I like this theater because they show a lot of films that are more acclaimed for their artistic value than for how much money they earn at the box office. It isn't the newest theater but it's clean and the staff are always polite.
