If I could rank them a 0 I would. The building is nice, because it is new, the people are NOT. The receptionist was rude and made it apparent that we were not a priority. We went into the exam room with our 4-month-old puppy, waited about 10 minutes and the Dr. came in. I have had young vets before, but this one had no bedside manner what so ever. It was our first time being there and he didn't bother to introduce himself. Kept referring to our female puppy as "bud", and clearly didn't know her name. He came in with the two shots she needed, didn't bother to look at/pull up her chart. He listened to her heart and lungs, told us everything was good, gave her the shots (without explaining what they were - I knew because I scheduled the appointment, but my other half was confused.) The vet was young, clearly right out of school, but seemed so incompetent. I had to ask him to feel her hips/joints, to make sure she seemed to be growing at the right pace, to check her eyes/ears/teeth/etc. He did nothing without being prompted. Unless you have attended vet school, do NOT go here, because YOU will be responsible for doing all of the investigating. He was useless, basically a vet tech for giving the shots and then was done. I was charged over $50.00 for this incompetent vet to not even give my puppy an overall physical, not to mention the standard puppy vaccinations were highly over-priced ($125 for the two shots and the exam all together). I had to tell him what she has already had although I had already had her records transferred. He was seemingly unaware that we had brought in a fecal sample and when we asked about it, said he would check on the status. We were excused to the waiting room where the receptionist said she was "too busy" to run the fecal and we would have to wait a half hour or they would call us with the results in a half hour. One week later we had heard nothing from them and we called to get the results. Awful customer service, horribly inexperienced, uneducated vet, rude receptionist/vet tech... I will NOT be returning. Hands down the worst experience I have ever had at a veterinary office. We have since transferred to Sauk Prairie Small Animal Hospital.

Message to Richland Center Vet Services. My daughter just this past Friday had to bring her dog Murphy in to get a foot check as our current,PREFERRED VET was not taking anymore appointments. She had to pay quite a hefty fee to have a DR KENT tell her her dogs foot was swollen most likely due to the fact he wasn't eating the proper puppy food.I haul freight for quite a prestigious company and am quite happy but I must say I might change my proffesion if I can get away with those kind of diagnostic thoughts and charge that kind of money. This DR KENT gave my daughter some pills to administer which usually happens when one has to make these visits. She no sooner left the office, got outside and looked at her bill,SAW how much they had charged and decided she didn't need that expenditure at this time. She proceeded to go back in and politely stated she couldn't afford this. She was told that if she returned them there would be a fee.The fee turned out to be more than half the cost of the pills that were administered not 3 minutes earlier.LUDICROUS DR KENT!!!.Was told your staff was rude in handling the transaction returning ( only half) of the money.RICHLAND CENTER VET SERVICES AND DR KENT should be ashamed of yourselves for how you handled a potential customer. You declined to speak to me about this situation and had one of your staff relay to me that this was your policy.Well my policy is to let others know when I have been ripped off so as someone else doesn't have to go through the same scams.Thank you to all the great VETS out there who do what they do not just for the monetary gain, but they truly love what they do and really care for animals.Peace

Insisted on giving house dog flea and tick medication before boarding, but didn't tell me this until I was on the road, dog in hand, at their desk. She had been seen there before and was up to date on all vaccinations, etc. Do not give Frontline or K9 because of possible side effects. Had no other choice had to leave town. Dropped her off she was fine, picked her up and now she has tremors when resting or sleeping, twitching so bad at times I can't sleep. Sent both a letter and email and didn't get a response to either. No sorry, no too bad, no nothing. Based on this experience and their lack of response I would not bring her back there. I understand unforeseeable things happen, but own up to it.

Feline declawing is banned in over 37 countries and in several California cities. Although this surgery is legal throughout the rest of the United States and Canada, it remains controversial for both veterinarians and cat owners. One of the reasons behind the controversy is that many cat owners think of declawing as a “super manicure.” However, cats’ nails are deeply embedded into the bone, and declawing requires the amputation of the last joint in every toe. This painful surgery requires expert, extended pain management. Sadly, not all practitioners administer the required pain control medication following the procedure. Fortunately for our kitties, there are a growing number of veterinarians today who work hard to educate clients and the public about the physical and emotional risks involved in declawing surgery. Many veterinarians refuse to perform this unnecessary procedure and consider it inhumane.
