The Famous Rocking R Bar
If you've spent anytime in Bozeman, Montana then you have either seen the iconic Rocking R Bar sign or you've stopped in for a drink. The Rocking R Bar originally opened in the late 1940s and has been a Bozeman mainstay ever since. The bar has been a popular hangout of Montana State University students and Bozeman residents for generations. The R Bar has been a huge supporter of the Montana State University athletics and is proud feature Bobcat Memorabilia throughout the Bar.
On March 5th, 2009 a gas explosion rocked Bozeman and destroyed a whole city block, including the Rocking R Bar. The explosion garnered national headlines which featured the iconic Rocking R Bar sign laying in a pile of rubble. On July 26th, 2011 the Rocking R Bar reopened it's doors with a huge celebration. The community support was overwhelming and was indicative of what this establishment has meant to the town and university students.
