This is the closest Home Improvement/Hardware store to my house so I really loved the idea of this place. Unfortunately, my most recent experiences here were terrible. After the hurricane, Rocky's ACE Hardware conveniently altered their return policy. They created a list of items ineligible for return. The list is described as being specific to hurricane related items but in reality the list encompasses everything in the store. How nice. This was a surprise to me when I went to return my unused/unopened items to the cashier - John. From the start John was rude and impatient with me. Not sure if he was having a bad day or if he just doesn't like his job. I expressed my frustration in civil manner. Instead of John politely explaining the hurricane policy, he chose to be short, rude and pushy to get me out the store. As I turned to the manager, Kerry Wells, I looked back  at John as he mumbled "F**king A**hole". I was shocked, I've never experienced anything like this in any Service industry. Kerry Wells was polite but refused to acknowledge the situation because he, "didn't hear him say it". The store manager Bill wasn't there. I did get to speak with District Manager Allyson. She was polite but did little to repair the situation. Being the only hardware store within a 15 minute radius, I'm convinced the discourteous behavior from the staff is due to their false sense of importance to the community. I will never give this place my business again and I'll be sure to pass the word on so no friends/family have to experience what I did at this store. Going forward, I'll make the drive to Home Depot or Lowes.

So yesterday I get a text from my wife asking me to pick up something from Ace, and as I walk up, they are locking the doors. I start to go away, and Mr. Butler says Come on; we can help you. He takes me to where my item is, helps me get it and I walk to the cashier who is also all smiles and I think: Why would I go anywhere else?

I visited rockys ace hardware twice this weekend.  Once to buy sandpaper which I was charged a higher price than posted on the shelf.    The second time, yesterday, I was in to buy advertised led light bulbs.   The shelf was bare.   When I asked for a raincheck, I was told that the only way I could get it was if I PREPAID FOR THEM!   This is ridiculous.   I was going to buy other bulbs because I needed them, but after being told that, I put them back.   I won't shop at a store that pulls crappie like this!
