Our vehicle broke down on Highway 80 while traveling to Reno the Friday after Thanksgiving. We contacted AAA and they recommended this shop. The tow truck driver had the car towed there and the shop was unfortunately closed for the Holiday! There was a sign indicating that it would be open the next day. We decided to leave the car there and hope that they would be able to fix it the next day as we had to get home on Sun. We received a call from Brad a little after 8am on Sat. And he had indicated that they had a full schedule ahead of them for the day and that he would contact us in the afternoon after they determined what repairs were needed. We were at their mercy and waited for the call. Brad contacted us around Noon and said that the alternator needed to be replaced and that they could get it done for us that day! We found them to be very professional and we were very happy that they were able to take care of us. Thank you for the excellent service!

Fantastic! Completed ahead of schedule.

Vehicle was barely running... Now getting double the mpg, and runs like a top. Probably the most honorable and expert shop I have ever dealt with, and the ONLY mechanic that will ever get the keys to my 1971 Corvette.

Simply the best!! Merry Christmas to all at Roy Foster's!!

I am extremely  dissatisfied and frustrated with the service I received at Roy Foster’s, and will never recommend this place to anyone in Reno. I needed some repairs done on my car (no major issues, but things that could evolve into greater problems if not taken care of) and decided to try Roy Foster’s since the reviews looked good and it’s in a convenient location for me. I scheduled an appointment a week in advance and showed up right at 8am Saturday morning since I knew the service would take most of the day. Brad said they’d run the diagnostics I requested and call in an hour or two. No call. I called at 11am asking if they’d gotten to my car and Brad said they were looking at it and would call me in an hour. Finally at noon (4 hours after dropping it off) Brad called telling me what they found and I approved the work. He assured me that everything would be done by 5-530pm since I needed my car back that day. By 5pm I hadn’t heard anything, but went back hoping they were finishing up. Nope. Despite receiving no call to update me, I was informed that their tech broke my timing cover when removing it and had to go get new parts so it was taking longer than expected. Finally at about 7pm it was all done. They road tested it and it came back smoking. No one took the time to look under the hood, and I was told that it was okay since they had cleaned the engine and so it would “steam” a little. After paying a couple thousand dollars (including paying for the parts THEY broke and had to replace) I left with their “Peace of Mind” warranty. 

Three days later, there is still a lot of “steam” coming from the front end of my car so I asked a friend to look under the hood for me. Turns out a radiator hose is leaking coolant all over (one of the diagnostic tests and repairs I paid for Saturday was for a coolant leak somewhere else!). I call and Mike says I can bring it in the afternoon. By the time I get back my car is smoking and overheating in the red, which are issues I DID NOT HAVE prior to them working on my car. They get me right in and fix everything free of charge (which they should, since I didn’t have these issue prior to them having my car for 11 hours and paying them thousands of dollars!), which is the only reason I’m giving two stars instead of one. Mike was apologetic and helpful, yet I have absolutely no peace of mind with the work that was done at Roy Fosters. They wasted my time, charged me for parts they broke, and ended up creating more issues than I had prior to my visit. This has been my worst automotive repair experience.

Update: Thank you for taking the time to respond and acknowledge my frustration. As I said, I brought my car in based on reviews but the service I received was neither fair nor reliable. I appreciate that you took the time to show me the timing cover and I know it was an accident that it broke; however, I had no control over how tight it was from the previous mechanic. Furthermore, when I returned to your shop Saturday evening the older gentleman working inside told me I would only be charged for the bracket for the timing belt tensioner but not the cover which I thought was reasonable. After talking to you he said I’d be charged for both.  I stand by my review given the unfair charges, lack of communication, and poor attention to detail I received Saturday.

I had a manifold exhaust leak on my 08 expedition and called around for quotes. They were fairly priced and the customer service and work was great. I recommend.

I call for a smog check quote, which was $15.99, but when I got there 10 minutes later the price had jumped to $20.99. Anyway go if you want but they will probably try to rip you off like they did me.
