The best Safeway around. Largest selection, well laid out with friendly people. The bakery is killer, they have a restroom and a lounge with WiFi. Can't hang out like we used to, but it's still cool.

After a small irritation from the deli employee totally ignoring me even though 2 other folks agreeing I was next, he said "no, this guy was" and went on to help him. I had the manager called to explain what happened, and he (Dean) was so nice. Went above and beyond even giving me half off my deli roast beef! I didn't expect that you surely don't get that much these days! Thank you Dean for turning a negative into a positive. Hope they have you training others for customer service!

Like this place, the setup, it's clean, looks great with great selection and variety on things t o buy but they seem to have a problem with the lines and cashier availability between 6pm and 8pm the lines and wait is ridiculous, line reached back to entrance, past Starbucks people were scattered trying to get to pay for stuff. Seen many people walk in and walk out and say" it's not worth it, let's go elsewhere this is crazy" I probably would of done the same but had alot of stuff and roughed it out. There is nothing wrong with this place or staff but the crazy coincidence that it's like that everyday at those times for some reason. I've been there a few times and always go through it. My schedule makes it for me to go there and get sometimes 1 or 2 items and it's just weird. I really never has this issue at other times just noticed a trend lately, hopefully they fix this inconvenience for the shoppers soon, they are loosing money at times. Too many people walk out when they see that line. So yes I recommend this place, just not between those times especially around 7pm. Unless you have nowhere to go in a rush...

Very disappointed with Safeway on 38th St Tacoma. Cashier was extremely slow. Stopped working with her elderly lady to help another elderly lady come back with her receipt. The cashier had a line backing up. Don't get me wrong I believe in assisting others when they come up to you. You should finish one customer before starting another on. After standing in line for a while my husband wanted to just leave. So that's what we did. Hopefully the next customers won't have to wait so ling.

It's convenient to run in and grab a few things. I just wish that there could be more check out counters. I almost always spend more time in line than I do actually shopping.
