It lacks some reverence. I was there the Sunday for the blessing of the animals.  That was great but the children were let out of church school early that made for a major distraction.  One person came to me before the service to speak to me; another person came and handed me a visitor card to place in the collection plate.  That was fine also.  The music left something to be desired.  A mixture of hymns and newer music was mediocre.  No mention of the newer pieces that were played, no music to read.  I guess it was expected that a person would know how to sing them.  No choir.  The service was not difficult to follow but some stood, others sat, others did not know what to do.  A little awkward but a good homily.  I left feeling 50/50

St. David's is a community filled with love, energy, and joy. I have been at St. David's for almost 2 years and I fully plan on staying here forever. When I look at St. David's, I see a community truly of people of all ages. I see a community that respects everyone, no matter who you are. I see a community that is okay with doubt, is okay with mistakes, and is okay with things not going perfectly. I see a community that cherishes life and is okay with kids making sounds during the service. I see a community that is okay with changing up the music and changing up the sermons to reflect what's going on in society - a community that is real. I see a community that is truly a community of loving, caring individuals who without thinking will drop what they are doing to make sure you are okay just because they heard you were sick. I see a community that is constantly looking at ways to help the greater Portland community, such as by donating books to New City Initiative, by cooking meals once per month through Hot Meals, and by distributing items to our friends on the streets with the Red Wagon program. I could go on and on about how amazing St. David's is. St. David's is a welcoming and loving place. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey or where you are in your life, consider stopping by St. David's.

A wonderful, inclusive community committed to social justice, equity, and good coffee. I highly recommend this wonderful place, either for worship or community involvement through the many activities that take place here!

Saint David of Wales Episcopal Church is great in ways that a Christian Church ought to be great, different, and better in Portland, Oregon.  Recognizing that the truth about the mystery of our existence is too big to be contained in any book, creed, mantra, or myth, Saint David's rector and parishioners are open and compassionate--not dogmatic.  This community of believers, followers, agnostics and, yes, even atheists is building a great new community.  

This church is coming back in a big way.  If you have not had the chance to stop by and see what goes on inside, you are missing out.  And no canned music inside.  The musical director is filled with humor and talent and his piano playing should not be missed.
