After waiting an hour for our $80.00 to go order, our order was incomplete. I got it home, ready to eat dinner and all I got was the steak. I called to restaurant and the gal told me to come back and pick up the condiments. Who only eats steak or wants to re warm up a perfect meal. I will not be ordering here anymore!!!

Needed a break on a long drive home- great locals place! The ribs were tender, house sauce is what we like (on the sweet side), beans & coleslaw were tasty. We were splitting 1 meal and the waiter wisely asked if we liked bread & suggested ordering the second piece for a buck. Good thing we did- or hubby would have lost out... 😆

Second time I visited, and we ended up waiting more than 45 minutes for 2 sandwiches and 3 kids meals. Other people were getting their food before us and the server seemed more focused on customers that had arrived after we had. Ended up leaving without our food. Manager was nice, but it was still a bad experience.

An exceptional BBQ experience. We had the Hot Link Sandwich and Pulled Pork sandwich, and both were well above average in overall flavor, quality and tenderness of meat, and smokey goodness. The hot links brought just the right amount of heat, and the pulled pork paired nicely both with the provided Hog Wash (vinegar based sauce) and both the tableside BBQ sauces. Of special note is their potato salad, made in a German potato salad style with minced celery and a nice hint of (I believe) thyme and cumin. All in all, a distinctive set of flavors are to be had at this Salinas landmark. As we pulled out of town northbound, we saw a sign for a competing joint advertised as "best BBQ on Yelp", and there's no way... Salinas City BBQ is second to none.

Awesome! Had the half chicken dinner with slaw and potato salad. Fast, friendly service and a good selection of craft beers. Go early before they run out of food!
