Story

Salk's was founded in Providence, RI in 1900, and in 1917 moved to the Oakland Beach section of Warwick. In 1956 we opened our present location on West Shore Road. Salk's has always been a family owned company. We have evolved over the years from a small neighborhood variety store in Providence to one of RI's largest independent Hardware and Marine stores. Jeffrey Salk, the fourth generation of the family, has been President of Salk's since 2000.

Now living in Warwick Neck area, this is the only hardware store around without going out of my way to the big box stores - and that's totally fine! Salk's hardware almost always has what I need for small DIY projects and repairs. They have just enough of what you need, without any of the extra frills, fancy displays, and all that. Do they carry 4 different brands of electrical outlets, 8 different paint brushes that look exactly the same, and every PVC adapter under the sun? No, but they always have something that will get the job done for the usual tasks in and around the house, and their staff are polite and helpful. Propane refill is super handy too, and cheap! About $12 to fill a standard cylinder. Half the price of the cylinder exchanges.

Owner is soft-spoken , can't hear the guy. Rude. Lots of wild rattatas as well. Some ready to evolve to raticate

Used to love this place. Unfortunately I had a pretty bad customer experience which may keep me from going back. Poor customer service from employee Richard C. Bad attitude, rude, poor service. Management should reevaluate this employee. Not returning.

If you have a credit card with a chip that doesn't work don't bother going to this store the management will not run your card manually!

We live right up the street so it is very convenient for us. We also like that they have all the "little" items that are hard to find other places. We have always had great customer service too. We appreciate that they carry all the "little" items.
