Story

Sea Ranch Restaurant has been serving South Padre Island visitors for over 35 years, and has established itself as the island’s premier dining destination. If you haven’t spent an evening at the Sea Ranch Restaurant, you haven’t truly experienced South Padre.

Our menu is comprised of local seafood that is caught directly from the Gulf of Mexico, and it changes often based on what is in season. Every item is made with high-quality ingredients, from unbeatably fresh seafood to juicy steaks and hearty pastas. Start your meal off with our Ahi Tuna or Escargot appetizers, or try something a little spicier like our Stuffed Jalapeños. For your main course, pick from one of our countless seafood items including fresh fish, crab legs, shrimp, oysters, lobster and scallops. Our house specialty is the Red Snapper, which has become a customer favorite as well. If you aren’t in the mood for seafood, try one of our delicious grilled steak, chicken or pork dishes. We also have decadent pastas, from chicken or seafood Alfredo to Scott’s Shrimp Scampi served over angel hair pasta. No matter what you are in the mood for, we have a tasty, fresh option for you at Sea Ranch Restaurant.

Seafood goes perfectly with wine, so we boast an extensive selection of wines. With over 122 choices ranging from $20 all the way to $500, we have the perfect choice to compliment your meal. I know that folks are quick to complain and slow to compliment, so I will take a few minutes to say that this place has their stuff together. The server at the bar area was SO nice and SO helpful. The red snapper was awesome. Oysters Rockefeller were quite tasty, and the wine menu was downright reasonable (compared to lots). My date ordered Surf and Turf & the Turf part was pretty so-so, but stick to seafood at a place called "Sea Island" and you will go home super happy. 5 *****

Liked: Seafood enchiladas, seafood Alfredo, ceviche, shrimp salad, seafood soup. Kids enjoyed the sliders (good portion of meat) and mac and cheese. chocolate cake was delicious and large. Disliked: Service could've been better. Private Dan plate - the fish was overcooked and tasteless, but the scallops and shrimp were good. Overall, do not recommend this dish. The calamari and clam chowder were not items we would order again.

My wife and I went to the Sea Ranch for our 10 year Anniversary dinner. We started at the bar, where we ordered 12 dozen raw oysters and two glasses of wine. The oysters were large, clean, and fresh. Unfortunately, the house cabernet tasted like poison. We next went to our dinner table that was in the upstairs area. The view of the bay from our dinner table was amazing. The tables and chairs were very comfortable to sit at. We told the waiter about the wine and he immediately ordered a different wine for us, which tasted amazing. We ordered escargot, shrimp bisque, pan seared scallops, and whole grilled red snapper. The escargot, shrimp bisque and red snapper was very good. The pan seared scallops on the other hand tasted like they were cooked in popcorn butter. It comes with six scallops and my wife and I could only eat two between the both of us. The other thing I noticed was that dinner took a very long time. It was two hours from the time we ordered our dinner to the time I payed my check. It was noticeably long. Overall: The view is amazing, the staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is okay. Honestly, it's nothing special.

It's significantly come down in quality of food! My husband and I stopped for our anniversary dinner and we love this place because it tends to be great with food and service. It's changed tremendously since our last visit perhaps a year ago, they have let the place go. The food was less than amazing, the calamari was not up to par, not crunchy and didn't seem fresh. Drinks were good, nothing spectacular, I ordered a margarita on the rocks top shelf with 1800 reposado and didn't have anything that set it aside from other places. My husband had a Shiner. When they brought out our food, tenderloin kabobs and shrimp with a added lobster tail, there was gnats surrounding our food and they remained during the entire time we ate our dinner, making it quite annoying. The lobster tail was not fresh if anything perhaps old, hence the gnats. The tenderloins & shrimp kabobs were okay, again nothing spectacular. We were in the mood for desert but didn't want to stay any longer or order another drink. We quickly ate our dinner, didn't want to ruin our night by complaining and simply left to another local restaurant to enjoy drinks on the bay. It will take a lot to convince me to come back to this place, for the price you would expect an enjoyable atmosphere. Service was great and tipped our waiter well, it wasn't his fault the quality of food and the restaurant was not up to par.

Food was fantastic! We got right in and they had a good selection as well as got our order in a timely fashion. We will definitely go back. Only downside was that it was on the expensive side. Btw our server Manny was awesome. Thanks for the great experience.
