As a lifelong holistic health practitioner who doesn't travel, I was suddenly faced with a cancer diagnosis earlier this year, and was guided across the country to the Sedona Wellness Retreat at the Lodge in Arizona, by my two retired doctor friends, who have been successfully treating their cancers non-conventionally. 

Conventional treatments were not an option for me, and, with a fast-growing tumor on my breast, we had to act quickly, and needed a medically supervised program. Innkeeper Tristen set me at ease from the start, patiently and efficiently answering all my questions on the phone. And so began a truly fantastic journey. 

From our arrival after a long plane ride and long, uncomfortable airport shuttle ride we were warmly welcomed and immediately made to feel at home. And that's how it was until we left. The staff took care of all the details so we could relax and focus on healing. 

I wanted to do some outdoorsy things while I was there with my husband, and Tristen made the right suggestions and coordinated with the doctors for me to have those trips at times that didn't conflict with my Gerson Therapy protocol. The Jeep tour of the vortexes was a special highlight of this trip, which ironically became the honeymoon we never had! 

Tristin also highly recommended working with a wonderful healer named Linda. I've known and worked with many healers and greatly appreciated Linda's ability, and feel strongly positive about the importance of her contribution to my healing. 

The kitchen staff were very friendly, lovely, and accommodating. I loved being greeted by them each morning at breakfast and chatting with them at their open kitchen throughout the day. It was fantastic how they knew everyone's names and accommodated special needs. Every day my green juice appeared in a special jar at the juice station with my name printed and a happy face drawn on it, because mine was a special blend. I was blown away by this small example of how accommodating the staff was. 

Indeed, the service was exceptional. And the Gerson Therapy was very well organized. My doctor at SWR is very knowledgeable, practical and flexible, with a great bedside manner. It was a very hard place to leave! I got exquisite care and got to truly relax, with all my needs tended too. 

I found the lodge itself beautiful, peaceful, serene. A great quiet healing environment. The place is small enough to be very homey and to provide attentive personal service. I loved dining outdoors with my husband, other guests and even by myself. It was great having the option to enjoy the gorgeous Arizona sunshine or shade with the table umbrellas, or eat indoors. Evenings often had lovely live musical entertainment with al fresco dining. 

I had visited Kripalu Yoga Ashram many times many years ago in Sumneytown Pa (no longer there) and Kripalu Center in Lenox Ma and this place has the same magical ambience. Incredible TLC. 

There was a very special bonding of the guests which greatly enhanced my experience. I had the joy of meeting people of all ages and walks of life from all around the country and feeling an instant comfort and unity with them all. How often does this happen? When I asked one of the innkeepers if this was unique to my group or the norm I learned it was indeed the norm. 

Before arriving, I had concerns about staying away from home by myself when my husband had to return home for work one week before me, and I was truly amazed at how easy this was for me because I felt very safe there and well-cared for, and because of the sense of community. 

There were two slight problems, both handled professionally, quickly and sensitively by innkeepers Tristin and Leah, exceeding my expectations. One problem was resolved by an upgrade to a beautiful suite. 

Gerson Therapy is a very rigorous protocol and I am extremely grateful for SWR in beautiful Sedona to indoctrinate me to it. The staff, including the doctors,  is very dedicated. What an amazing memorable experience they created! I highly recommend the wellness retreat at the lodge at Sedona.
