Edit: Since writing the below review, we had a bout of food poisoning after dining here. Obviously that is not typical as we had eaten there dozens of times before without issue, but it only takes once to ruin a place. We haven't been back. Original review: This is a family-friendly pan-Asian restaurant with hibachi. While I have never had the hibachi or sushi, I have tried many other dishes on the menu over the years. They are always enjoyable, though I would have a hard time identifying a signature dish that they prepare better than other higher-end competitors. While some Asian restaurants focus on a few cuisines and perfect a smaller number of dishes, I get the sense that Shangri-La chooses to maintain their large and broad menu even though it might result in fewer top-quality dishes. On occasion, I also get the sense that language barriers get in the way of accurate service. All in all, I go there often and will continue to do so because it is a great balance of good food, convenience, and affordability.

My absolute favorite sushi/hibachi spot in Bala cynwyd. Excellent staff. Delicious food. I moved to Havertown years ago and still go back to visit.

NASTY MANAGEMENT AND SERVICE! GO ELSEWHERE, FOOD ISNT EVEN GOOD BUT THE SERVICE IS WORSE! I don't even want to give this place a star!we walked in for my brother's graduation dinner wanting hibachi. They greeted us by asking if the four of us were eating and we said no, my sister has allergies so she can't eat anything. They said we couldn't eat at the hibachi table and sent us to the poorly lit, vacant, silent (no music) "dining room". After looking at the menu we all still wanted hibachi and my sister couldn't eat anything on the non hibachi menu either. So we pressed them about getting hibachi (there was only a party of two eating a hibachi dinner and then us in the whole place, leaving 3 open hibachi tables). After our persistence they allowed us. The chef was very fun,. Though the quality of food was mediocre. We tipped the chef after he was done and then when I paid the bill I tipped the other half (reluctantly) and the manager or server came to collect my tip (which was weird since I already paid the bill) and immediately started rambling on loudly in her language to the other servers who didn't actually serve us (only the chef did any service) and on top of that, they were all very rude to us from the moment we walked in. I don't understand this hostility, they made over $60 off of our bill even with 3/4 of us eating. When your dining room is empty, I think it's time you do away with "rules" about everyone eating at the hibachi table because 3 people eating a meal is better than 0 (there was no wait. Literally a total of 5 people in the restaurant including us.) Astounded at their audacity to ridicule my tip that was more than suffient for their service. They shouldn't have received any tip at all since they weren't kind for even a moment.

I enjoy ordering from Shangri-La Inn as they seem to be the safest Chinese restaurant that is safe for someone with peanut allergies. I have been coming here for years and lately the food has been very greasy and sometimes the take-out orders get messed up. This has happened to me a few times. I will continue to come to this restaurant, but have to be careful that everything I ordered is in my to go bag.

The front desk attendant are very rude. They thinking as they give to you a favor. You are not a customer. I am not go back again.
