Unfortunately, this place disappointed me to the greatest degree possible. My roommates and I ordered burgers for carryout. I, being allergic to eggs, ordered a burger without any mayo or egg related product to avoid a possible reaction. Upon arriving home with the food we found that they had made the wrong burger for me. This one had mayo, which would have landed me in the hospital had I eaten it unknowingly. This sort of thing happens all the time in the food industry, so I wasn't too upset. We went back to the restaurant to see if we could get the order fixed and to my disappointment, they were not so cooperative. The bartender/manager proceeded to take the receipt out of my hand, and tell me that there was nothing he could do. At this point I was a little upset. I continued home and decided to give them a call, to see if I could straighten this out with someone else. Unfortunately, the man that turned me away was the one running the phones. After confirming that I was the one who came in to have this whole thing fixed, he said, and these are the exact words, "We advise our customers to look at the menu before ordering, so sorry we can't compensate for a customers mistake." and proceeded to hang up on me. This left a little bit of a sour taste in my mouth. After taking my money, and hanging up on me, I will surely never be giving this establishment my business ever again. To anyone in the downtown Iowa City area looking for a good burger, I would advise trying out Atlas or Quinton's. Both have astounding burgers, AND great service.

The service was laughably bad tonight. I’ve been here before, and it is has NEVER been this bad. The host seated people of our same group size before us whose names had obviously been taken after ours. A supposed 10-15 minute wait was then doubled. The server brought us our waters 10 minutes after we asked for them, forgot one, and never brought it. I asked for a water refill later and never got it. My companion was brought the wrong beer. The food came pretty quickly and was as good as usual, but we were frequently ignored or had to remind our server several times to bring us things we’d asked for. The bathroom was filthy and there were no paper towels. Shorts needs to hire more staff. This was clearly an issue with having too few people on the floor helping out, and the management should be ashamed to run a restaurant under these conditions.

This is one of my favorite places too eat in Iowa city. The staff is always very friendly, the drinks are well made and they have a great burger selection. They have great black bean burgers that actually have flavor as opposed to veggie burger options at many other places.

Incredible burger! I had the Defiant burger. Best burger ever. Fries were good too. Excellent service and great pricea!

Great! burgers with fresh toppings!. one great spot to get an out of the ordinary burger. even there burritos crazed my taste buds.
