. I got a call from my spouse today around 4:20PM that we need to get to the vet, fast. I leave work and call her to find out what exactly is going on. Our Maine Coon mix has a dilated pupil that won't contract. Possible brain issues, anything. Sierra County Vet has told her we need to go an hour away as they can't see my cat. It's 4:26 PM--the vet is open until 5:30 PM. I call and tell them we'll be there in five minutes. Receptionist states, no, they're full today. I remind her this is an emergency per their instructions and we will have to drive an hour one way to the next vet. She goes to talk to the vet, comes back on and states again, nope--won't see us because vet has to leave at 5:30 PM to go on vacation. Again, it's not yet 4:30 and they won't see us even though this is a possible life threatening emergency. I furiously dial the vet an hour away, talk to them while my spouse uses another phone to call our other vet --again an hour away. My cat is OK no thanks to this vet. This is the only vet clinic ia a 60-70 mile area--there is no excuse for this practice to not have hired another vet (there used to be two but one moved away over a year ago). And to blow off an emergency and just state go an hour away (one way) is ridiculous.

I brought my puppy in for an exam and to see why she was not eating. The vet appeared to be on some type of narcotic or other drugs, as her eyes were bulging and she was talking a million miles an hour. I am a certified chef and she informed me that regular people cannot make dog food, that I was unqualified to make a puppy formula and needed to buy an expensive bag of whatever she is selling. My puppy was misdiagnosed and I brought it to the attention of the vet and her staff. I demanded a refund for malpractice and explained to the woman that she has way too many clients and is making mistakes that could cost an animal its life. They refused to give a refund and threatened to call the police if I did not leave. I should have followed through with a lawsuit on this place. Beware of unethical business practices and inhumane treatment of animals at this clinic. It should be shut down.

This place is horrible my sister took her dog to them to see what kind of sickness they had and only did 1 test and on the same day she took her dog to this place and later today her dog passed away. This place shouldn’t ever deserve a star I suggest taking your dogs somewhere else not to this crappy vet

If my dog gets hit by another car and lives again, I'm definitely taking her back here. Great staff

Dr. Dawkins and staff have been wonderful and informative in the care of both of my older dogs.
