Silverado Park

Story

Silverado Park is a city-operated park of 11.8acre in the West-Side area of Long Beach, California. It was built in the 1930s under the auspices of the Works Progress Administration. It is in an area with increased crime rates although events such as a children's Christmas party have also taken place there. In 2005 the park was part of a study conducted by CSULB biologists on the behavior of house finches in heavily urbanized environments.

My children have been attending swim classes at Silverado Pool for over 2 years now and we love it! Staff is very helpful and well trained. Facilities could be a bit cleaner but that's also part of all those visiting the pool. We've aslo rented the entire pool for birthday parties! Awesomely affordable!

Plenty of benches and shade. Unfortunately, there was a group smoking nearby. One of them decided to urinate behind a tree while disregarding the families and kids at the park. Not cool. My criticism is not towards the park facilities but the sketchy people it attracts.

The park itself is pretty sketchy, with a bunch of homeless people and various shady characters always hanging around. However, the indoor pool is awesome. I've never used the indoor basketball courts either, but they look quite nice.

It's a very good park. Has everything you need. A pool, skateboard park, a gym, basketball and a weight room.
