Slate Street Café is a sleek, contemporary eatery that combines big city ambience with inspired, modern cuisine. From the smoked salmon frittata to build-your-own bruschetta to mouthwatering Ahi tuna, our culinary flair will tantalize and delight from breakfast through dinner. Locally owned and centrally located in downtown Albuquerque, Slate Street Café features a cool, spacious interior, our award-winning Wine Loft, and shaded patio dining in the fresh New Mexico air. I have been here repeatedly. It is a wine and beer bar..with top end delicious local flavors. Ive only eaten one main entre, the chicken fried steak, which, while being fantastic, i believe i should have gone for more detailed fare. Why? Because the fine appetizers , the scallops(often not cooked right at some places..PERFECT here), the mini sesame pork shanks...absolutely delicious..even the SLAW..all of it extremely well presented and good to eat. Definitely worth a visit.

A routine customer to this establishment, enjoy the food, enjoy the drinks, enjoy the atmosphere, enjoy the servers minus ONE. After coming to this store at least 3-4 times per week, the server, her name is LIZBETH, was blatantly hateful and disrespectful to paying customers, especially the ones who frequent this place 3-4 times per week.  We were seated in her section and sat there for 18 minutes, not a hello, no water, table setting, NOTHING! We finally asked to move to a different section, where we properly attended to.  However, two different parties sat in the same section/booth we were seated and she attended to them in less than 2 1/2 minutes after being seated--one group left because of menu options, the other stayed for the duration of service.  This Lizbet chick was totally disrespectful, rude and a racist.  Based on previous visits, she shunned us often while the rest of the servers have always been friendly and included a smile.  Made several attempts to contact the owner, Myra and to this date, no response.  While the food is good, discrimination and racism is always a bad taste!

I remember when they first opened, I was hopeful they would stick around and they have. I typically come for lunch and I am always pleased. I always choose the house made chips over fries.

Excellent wine list, check.  Fantastic food with generous portions, check.  Great service, check.  If you haven't had the apple fritters for brunch, you have not lived yet!  Wonderful coffee, very cool selection of specialized cupcakes, and their take on old favorites never disappoints.  YUM times infinity.  Best for brunch, date night, girls night and DO NOT forget their wine tastings throughout the month - AMAZING!
